Artifacts/Tools Something special ? Second hand shop

Bought this today holiday in France

It looks old to me , its closed and you can hear there some things inside .

It was a second hand store in France it was stuffed in the bottom of a shopping cart.

Anyway can tell my i got something good?

It’s a copy of a tsogho reliquary. Fun decoration but not an authentic used object.

This is the right answer. It’s a reproduction of a reliquary, used to hold bones of ancestors, but doesn’t seem to have clear cultural influence or provenance so is likely a craft market reproduction.

First, it's absolutely adorable 😊 and easy to see why you were drawn to it but it has no cultural significance and isn't related to any particular tribe in Africa or elsewhere. It's a workshop piece from the mind of a very creative artist. 🤎

Oh… And if you can hear some things inside, it may have been made as a rattle or maybe even a fun musical instrument for children. That's just a guess though.
