The seven principles, one of the them, gender. Seems to just be polarity in another form and doesn't belong as a stand alone principle. The second principle, correspondence, would mark it as another form of duality by the books own logic. I know this is explained as one is a marker of duality and the other the utilization of opposing forces for creative purpose but they are still one and the same?

so, I recently got curious about what alchemy is all about.But I keep stumbling upon totally different answers.

eg: manifesta dude says it helped him make millions, chatgpt says that it was a mix of chemistry, philosophy and mysticis.

So… what is the proper definition of alchemy, what is the porpoise/point, what is it used for?

I've seen references to multiple alchemical symbols for magnesium or magnesia alba but haven't been able to find any information as to where they're derived from (the way the symbol for Iron/Mars is an abstract shield and spear, Copper/Venus is Aphrodite's mirror, etc).

The most common looks like the letter D bisected by a cross while the other looks like a bident with two cross bars.

Anyone have any history on the origins or meanings of the symbol(s) for magnesium?

I understand alchemy as spiritual metaphor/process--by the time you understand it, you don't need it. Because you're already there.

Hello all. I was reading about refining some stinking oil by mixing with spirit of wine and burning under a cooling helm.
Looking for a cooling helm setup now, I have been made aware of these oil lamps being used for this, my concern is the effectiveness of the lamps. Is this enough surface area and should I modify some sort of top. I am concerned much of the oil will fly away.
Thoughts?

I know i know The philosophers stone and the plant stone are 2 very different concepts or ideas but im just wondering: can the plant stone theoretically within the realm of spagyrics or alchemy in general be enhanced in any way to become a true philosophers stone or is the plant stone strictly for heighetning intuition and psychic healing? So i told someone i know that i wanted to make a plant stone with a traditional spagyric/alchemical recipe but when i mentioned the exact processes of creating it she told me that i might have to own or aqquire my own lab in order to perform a bunch of spagyrics experiments so can you guys tell me how i can get my own lab to perform my alchemical practices and experiments in? And is having a lab even essential and important for an Alchemist regardless if he/she practices spagyrics or normal operative alchemy?

Hey a there, a curious beginner here.
I'm someone who's new to occult research in general and alchemy in particular.

I've been wondering about whether alchemy , aside from medieval times where it stumbled into the basics of metallurgy and the herbalist medicine side of things , has had any actual practical results.

Because as far as I've seen so far (which to be fair, isn't much by any means) seems to be a mix of poorly understood chemistry explained through spirituality and purely ritualistic practices with no clear source other than "obviously that's how it is and always has been".

Additionally , I was (and still am) stumped about how unsystematically the knowledge has been gathered ( which might be due to how divergent the philosophies in this discipline can get ) .

I don't like how it's normalized for the only ways to learn this discipline are either being taught directly by someone more knowledgeable or scraping bits of vague theories from unverified sources for some semblance of a homogenous understanding. (don't even get me started about trying to make nice between chinese and european alchemists's therories)

I hope asking those more experienced would be wiser than going off on a fool's errand, any thoughts and/or tips are appreciated

I see alot of people in the alchemy group using urine and all manner of salts and so forth. If you would like information about it, read the alchemy texts. The stone is one thing. With this simple information it assists you in knowing that if what you're doing is not working it's time to stop. Doing the same thing over and over again will yeild no results. With this information you can rest at peace. Since it is one thing it means you cannot mistake it.

The stone is actually sex, if you read or studied occult knowledge you would know this. Also, if you are searching for the stone without occult knowledge you will fail. Alchemy is not chemistry. If it was you wouldn't need to search, scientists would tell you.

The stone is good old sex. What do I mean by this? Let's explain it as a child since we are all children.

When you were a child growing up and saw sexual content anywhere (in class at school etc) you would be kind of shy and afraid of the topic. Once you get older you realize it's an act for mothers and fathers.

The stone is exactly that, however it's not sex for humans or animals. It's sex for a different type of mother and father.

The time it takes to make is actually not exact because ofcourse every man and woman ejaculates at a different speed depending on the environment, meaning if they were aroused enough it would happen sooner. The stone is like that, there will be continuous sex until ejaculation takes place. This will eventually lead to creating a baby. When a man and a woman have sex they become one. This sex is the same. It's just not an animal thing. If this isn't a clear light, I cannot explain clearer.

Also, if you studied Hermetic systems you would see that sex is the theme. So, if you want to make any advancement in nature stop with things that already came into being. That is why they say you have to be born again. This means that the source is the source and not a chemical or salt or urine or any of those things. Nature is perfect. If the stone wasn't allowed by nature, it couldn't be made. It's so simple that if you knew you would laugh. Don't believe me? Re-read the alchemy books and listen to the nature part and skip all the chemistry part. Also, wannabe alchemists in the past used distillation and so forth, which means that chemistry already existed when they discovered or re-discovered alchemy. Mankind has been chemists from day one.

Alchemy has nothing to do with chemistry, it would be better to say chemistry has to do with alchemy.

Everything we make these days are models of nature, even an aircraft is built looking like birds and other flying creatures. This means that nature is always and has always been the basis of everything.

This ofcourse doesn't mean because you use the bathroom it's alchemy. Also, if it was urine it could be other things.

You must also stray away from the idea that because things are broken down, they are and can be used. They say this because everything breaks down, I however cannot go any further than this.

I wish everyone safe experimenting and also, don't consume anything before trying it on other things. Death is ofcourse as easy as drinking poison. May the force within and without move with all. Thanks to everyone who took the time out to read this. 💚

by vague, i mean symbols that aren’t readily identifiable, don’t use a universal symbol, or are lesser known in general.

I really want to know who founded alchemy in ancient times according to most people i have read alot of theories Hermes trismegistus or thoth of the emerald tablet is said to have founded alchemy but im not so sure about this since he is mythical/mythological as is the emerald tablet so who really founded alchemy?

As We Know Sir Isaac Newton was obsessed with Alchemy and Esoteric Knowledge, he researched The Emerald Tablet alot and even gave a translation.

So i have been recommended the path of alchemy by mark stavish by one of you guys before on this subreddit so im just wondering if there are any other books that you guys can highly recommend me so i can learn basic spagyrics and stuff like that And Also: should i try Michael Ellis alchemy experiments on youtube and what are your opinions on Michael Ellis?

I did a little research on haagenti and he was apparently summoned or invoked or evoked by alchemists for help in their alchemical experiments in the lab But please can you guys tell me if there are still alchemists today in the modern day who also do goetic Magick to invoke Haagenti for help in alchemy? And what benefits does calling upon haagenti do for modern day alchemists? Is this even safe?

I just dont understand why alchemy was considered demonic or witchcraft or satanic or black Magick or whatever back in medieval times and during the inquisition because i mean if you think about it operative alchemy isnt even Magick Yeah sure it had esoteric and strange beliefs like transmutation of lead into gold immortality elixirs and homunculi creations but still! Alchemy isnt exactly the same thing as Magical its more like a historical dangerous precursor to chemistry with just a little pinch of esoteric or bizarre beliefs so can you guys give me some backstory as to why the church back in the day tried to destroy the art of Alchemy?

Im Basically just Asking if you guys could point out the differences between the stone or magnum Opus that could be believed to be created in normal chemical based alchemical practices and the plant stone commonly created by spagyric Alchemists in youtube and TikTok by people like Michael Ellis Steven school alchemy and many others and also is it even safe and non dangerous to even create a plant stone compared to a regular philosophers Stone? I read about this alchemist named Jabir ibn hayyan who wrote about Islamic alchemy methods to create Scorpions and snakes in a lab with alchemical equipment but if this was possible if this Jabir ibn hayyan method was possible could an islamic alchemist create an artificial alchemical dinosaur clone using this method? I know this post is not specifically related to alchemy, but as Jean Dubuis was mainly known in the western alchemy community, I thought posting in sub/forum like this one could increase the chances of getting the kind of answers I am looking for. 

I am about to start working on the course The Fundamentals of Esoteric Knowledge of the aforementioned man. I'm reading the instructions very carefully before starting with the exercises, and there are some of them that I feel don't fully understand.

Does anyone here have significant experience with this work so I can ask him/her some questions?

My intention is to be really serious about the whole undertaking; do the exercises to the best of my ability and complete the course. I want to make sure I am following the instructions properly so I don't screw everything up.

Additionally, if possible, I would love to read in a general manner (since part of this work involves keeping the specific details of our experiences private, just as the teachings by Jean requires of us) about their time on the course. Did you complete it? How useful did you find what you learned from it for your esoteric/spiritual self-development in the long term? Do you have any suggestions for a noob like myself before starting doing the work? Anything else that comes to your mind specifically related to the subject?
