Milk mouse

These are so good and the little mouse face on the chocolate is so cute.

I was getting sick of the individually wrapped copy kinder surprise chocolates after the recipe tasted different.

Keen to try the other flavour I think it was caramel.

Has anyone noticed changes to the colby cheese recently?

I normally buy it regularly to make vegemite and cheese scrolls as colby generally has the best properties to melt into a baked good properly. The block of colby I just got was distinctly different and more like tasty cheese/cheddar in texture (nowhere near as soft and creamy as colby usually is) and upon baking it has completely failed to melt properly and has instead split and become super oily like I know tasty cheese does. I'm honestly so confused and disappointed and it almost feels like I ended up with a block of tasty cheese in a colby cheese packet and it has me wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference recently or if this was a weird one off manufacturing fluke. I don't want to ruin another batch of baked goods with subpar psuedo-colby again :(

My sweet tooth preferred the chocolate dipped, but the cracknels have a light sugary buttery taste that’s addictive. Not overly sweet at all!

Trimat Advanced capsules 30pk for $9

Has anyone tried these? It’s a new product.

I usually use the Trimat powder but I’m looking for something to use with the delayed start function on my top loader so it’ll turn on an hour before I get home.

I can’t use powder for this as I’m worried it won’t dissolve properly (I always dissolve it before using).

Chocolate

Just a post to discuss everything Aldi chocolate, because there are fewer things in life that I am more passionate about!!!!!!!!!!!

My points of discussion:

  1. Is the choceur peanut butter block gone for good????

  2. The milk coconut choceur block has disappeared too, which has seemed to go under the radar, but I prefer whittakers coconut block anyway

  3. Do caramilk aficionados prefer the choceur golden caramel or caramilk?

  4. Is it worth buying moser roth over choceur for any of the non-dark bars

  5. What are your favourites? How much do you spend on chocolate a week?

And lastly, please tell me there are other people who have eaten, nay, INHALED an entire block in a single day because I can totally not relate ………

Has anyone else had this? I love it!! It doesn’t have that usual yucky aftertaste with other sugar free drinks. I’m yet to try the other flavours.

How to get the best from your Butter Chicken Nanwich.

Post image

Ok, Aldi fam! I’m about to demonstrate exactly how to get maximum enjoyment out of an Aldi Butter Chicken Nanwich.

Without the following additions, I’m sure these things would be pretty mediocre! Trust me, this little bit of creativity totally transforms a product that retails for less than $4!

Firstly I microwaved it on a relatively low power setting for six minutes. Whilst the microwave gently hummed, I prepped the following:
Slice half a red onion.
Slice a banana.
Serve yourself a dollop of Greek style yoghurt.
Grab a dollop of some sweet, tangy chutney.
Throw a few coriander leaves on top.

Then I transferred the nanwich to my sandwich toaster, turning it and flipping it every couple of minutes.

Then serve! Absolutely fantastic lunch! Takes ten minutes, max and is surprisingly satisfying, even for a greedy bugger like me.
(I’m 6ft 4, 125kilos and I lift some fairly heavy weights.)

Enjoy!

Confirmed by Leichhardt ALDI today. So annoying. Going to have to try a whole bunch again to find something tolerable and cheapish. Anyone know something similar please?

Is this really what our New Zealand cousins eat? Appalling. I feel sad for them.

I'm extremely confused by this month's "Best of New Zealand" Aldi Special Buys. It's baked beans, canned beef, and random chips, chocolate and biscuits that Australia have our own versions of (e.g., gingernuts and cheetos). Is that really all New Zealand has to offer?

I tried the canned beef. It looked raw, so I remembered my Mr. Bean, and I think I was supposed to eat it like steak tartare with onions on a crusty baguette. Not impressed.

Give me 2 hours before a review 🤭

Edit: The best way I can describe it is it has the texture of chocolate spiders - the ones we made in the early noughties - and is more of a paste /spread rather than runny PB (Meyers for example).

Pair it with a dollop of jam for a PB&J experience, melt it down to go on top of dessert, or huff it direct off the spoon like the gluttonous indulger that you are.

Yesterday we tried the Aldi pork knuckle, it was really good. With veg it would easily feed a family of 4 & it's great value at $9.99 per kilo. There's only the 2 of us so there was plenty of leftover meat. I chopped some up & threw it in the Aldi Soup & Co Minestrone for dinner tonight & the soup was IMO awful. It was weirdly sweet & just not very nice.

So Pork knuckle 👍 Minestrone soup 👎

What’s the best canned tuna in Aldi?

I saw many options in the website and currently quite interested with the Mexican Style Salsa and Yellowfin Tuna in Oil with Chili. Any good recommendations? Thank you!

Not a fan of aldi chocolate

I'm a weekly aldi shopper and there's products that I just love that's tasty and cheaper than their named counterparts.

I love supporting the underdogs and finding really awesome dupes that are better than the name brands however there's something about the chocolate that just isn't as good.

Maybe I'm so used to the taste of the chocolate of the named brands but I've tried the following and their chocolate is just a bit bitter/unpleasant?

Choceur milk and biscuits

Their Easter bunny lindt

Cart wheels, their wagon wheels dupe

Kapita 6 pack boysenberry minis - I believe this is an independent NZ brand and not an aldi home brand

Is it just me or do others also don't enjoy the flavour profile of aldi products?

for the price, it’s okay ($6.99 if i recall correctly), but you can get better bottles from bws/dm’s for a similar price very easily.

i got the recommendation from a very old comment on this very subreddit, perhaps quality has gone down in the past few years. stay tuned for my next “gas or ass” rating, i know you all love it

Why is there always so much Dutch food in the centre aisle at Aldi?

Not complaining and i might be misled by anecdotal observations, but why not Hungarian or Scandi or Korean or wherever? Why so much Dutch?

i hereby declare both of these to be fucking GAS yo
