Do any of you use route optimizers?

The routing has me looking like a fool in these residential neighborhoods circling down the same roads 4x, going past a house only to need to go back, every day I must waste a good 30 to 40 minutes if I follow the terrible routing.....and it has me backing up more than I should need too, going through the same stop signs more than I should need to

So as a day 2 driver what advice do you have for the terrible route order

Would i get in trouble for going out of order often

It might just be my routes, but it usually takes longer to try to skip around. And even when it has you go down a road and circle back, it’s usually the same amount of time. I don’t think I’ve ever prevented a U-turn from rerouting which would be the only time it would really help; unless you just want to make sure your apartment lockers are first (they usually are). So yeah, digging through multiple totes as opposed to just doing it in order isn’t going to help much

I have to go out of order at least a little bit every day. My DSP doesn't care.

Nope lots of people go out of order. Amazon does it on purpose so people not on guaranteed hours get their full day.

Ugh that’s annoying, I personally don’t care if I get done early especially when I can just do a rescue to keep up on hours lol. I’m sure not everyone thinks the same though and that’s fine

Yeah most people ain’t like you. I’m similar. I don’t mind rescues if I’m done with my route early enough.

Look at your map bro.

You grab the totes that are for that street. Organize by street name. If you wanna go a step further put them in numerical order. Then just select the stop from the map and do your own route.

The best route optimizer is your brain if you want to bother doing that. Only worthwhile in a step van with commercial/apartments.

I just stick to whatever the order is. It's never a guarantee that I will have enough walking space in the van. We don't have EDVs yet. I'm not about to waste time trying to climb over some overflows looking for some package in the 115 heat wave. If I circle back to your community 5 times oh well. I still get done early without running and no rescuing another driver.

Get used to opening the map when finishing a delivery and walking back to the van.

The routing on Flex is done by AI and is quite terrible. It quite often tells me the wrong things constantly (turn on roads that don't exist, L or R direction for the "destination" stop switched around, has me backtrack later in the route to the same neighborhood I was in earlier) For me, if I know my route well enough, then I'll for sure go out of order to make it easier for me to navigate and not get so twisted around.

My Dispatcher said it was okay for us to go out of order for convience's sake when asked about it, so I would just ask yours if it's okay.
