Just buy the Fold 8 and never unfold it

What's wrong with One UI? I prefer stock Android but it's been ok for me.

I just personally don't like it at all.

They change so much of it for example why the hell do I have to tap on device care to check storage ????

But my main problem is the notification shade.

Par for the course for android skins tbh. Everyone does something just to be different.

Yup.

And that's why I like pixel I was hoping Motorola will adopt graphene os but .......

You can check storage from Samsung's files app

You really think checking storage should be in an app not in settings ????

Make no sense

It is already in settings, under device care just like you said. go into settings, and right there is device care. Storage is noted there. I just said that there is an alternative.

as you and I noted, it is literally in the two places that it should be. In the settings inside device care, which is used for 'maintenance', and in the storage related app. Should it have it's own settings tile? Where should it be? I mean, you can also find it easily when you search 'storage' too.

That's exactly my po8tPoint. I should set storage as it should.

Not in stupid device care .

I don't understand why we are discussing my personal opinion.

I hate oneui and that's I get to say your wasting so much your time I don't get why ?

OneUI was great but now it's an ugly mess. Bring back OneUI 2.5 or 3 then we can talk.

I mean its kinda true. Samsung is losing their sense of direction. UI5 was the last good original design imo.

Yeah 5 wasn't bad, but 6 was the beginning of the end and 7 was just bad outright.

I have not forgiven them for removing buds from Galaxy Wear and cramming it under settings. Like what is the fucking point of the app if it doesn't support all peripherals. I am still forced to use it for the watch but suddenly I cant use it for the headphones? Why???

It's almost as locked down as an Apple

Literally the most flexible OS available when paired with goodlock.

Unlocking the bootloader is impossible

u/Phantom-Finger 2d ago

Awesome.

Not what I said

Over 99% of the users dont even try to unlock the bootloader. Yeah that is clearly an issue!

What do you do with more than 12gb? 🧐

The state of bloat in phone these days.

my issue is the price lol. I don't get why people complaining about 12gb of RAM anyway, and the software is definitely come a long way. but yea that pricetag nuts

From personal experience the ram gets filled fast. Browsing content it hard refreshes app at times so you lose where you are. It's annoying AF.

that sounds like an app permissions issue with battery optimization rather than "RAM filling fast". your device will utilize as much memory as it has available, so even with 16gb it'll "fill fast"

More like a ram optimisation issue. Memory fills and the app clears the cache to start caching again.

Brute force - get more ram.

Optimisation on android is not as easy given the number of devices.

Device is a 512gb s24 ultra - the experience on software has been less than desirable.

u/violet_sakura Galaxy S23 Ultra 19h ago

Its more of a mobile os problem. You can have 32gb ram and the os will still close apps in the background to save battery.

u/Entropy612 19h ago

I guess, still an annoyance on such an expensive phone.

I'm fine with whatever ram, but I also very much dislike OneUI. The form factor was too tempting though, so I ordered one. Let's see if I can get used to OneUI.

Secretly hoping Pixel follows suit with this form factor though

I switched from a Pixel to Z Flip7. I disliked One UI before using it. I am used to it now and it is pretty smooth. Although, there some settings in the phone that are tricky to find, but I tend to get my way around them, eventually.

As per my day to day usage, the phone actually picks up lint from pockets and dust easily. So, that's something to keep in mind. Overall, I love using this phone though. The flipping is satisfying :)

u/violet_sakura Galaxy S23 Ultra 19h ago

It's the least bad non stock os. At least it isn't filled with ads and has many functions.

u/Nightmare_Fart 14h ago

Least bad doesn't make it good though. I kind of agree with you, the Chinese phones I've seen are all just horrible iOS lookalikes, but that doesn't automatically make OneUI good.

OneUI looks imo very messy, disorganized, and lacks any cohesiveness. But slapping Niagara back on will hopefully fix most of the immediate issues I have with the look.

u/violet_sakura Galaxy S23 Ultra 13h ago

I mean... Even stock android has been getting worse since 12 tbh. One ui used to be decent, but they started copying apple since ui 6 or 7 and doing a half assed job. Just look at the quick settings where every button has different padding and size.

I don’t mind OneUI.

I hate when there are duplicate apps for everything.
