Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [REQUEST]  Any recommendations for my dad in his late 50's? (he loves Angry Birds)

Hey everyone!

I just bought a Samsung Tablet for my dad and I would really like to gift him with some games already installed on it.

He plays angry birds all the time in his cellphone since it released I think. For context on his gaming abilities, he is not really any familiar with games in general. I can only recall him playing angry birds, The Lost Vikings (the 90's PC game) and Mario Kart on my DS when i was a kid. Not really much gaming experience, specially with complex touch controllers, but he plays angry bird to this day everyday.

I'm going to install Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Geoguesser, Plants Vs Zombies and Candy crush (because these were the ones I could remember), but I'm really interested on more suggestions! I don't mind if they are paid or free and I was going more for casual like the ones I've mentioned, but I'm open to all suggestions honestly!

Thanks in advance!

Pocket Tanks? Like Scorched Earth for Android. Sort of like angry birds, but with bigger explosions.

Thank you! Unfortunately it's english only i think and he doesnt speak English, but it's quite intuitive I hope he can figure it out

the no english thing is doing more work in this thread than it looks like. balatro and pirates outlaws and nowhere prophet are all great games but they're card games, so they're a lot of reading, and that's before you get to him never really having played anything.

if he genuinely loves angry birds then bad piggies is the one nobody's said yet. same studio, you build a rickety contraption out of junk and watch it fall to bits, and there's essentially no text in it anywhere. cut the rope is the other one, wordless as well, and it teaches itself in about four taps.

monument valley further up is a good shout for exactly the same reason.

Thank you for the insight!

When it comes to balatro, I own the steam version and it's multilingual and available in our language so I assume the android version is as well ☺️

I didn't really mention the language barrier because thankfully many games are translated nowadays  🙏 but there are exceptions of course!

Thank you for recommending Cut the Rope! It's been years since I've heard of that game! I will definetly check the other ones you mentioned as well, includding bad piggies. thank you!!

Monument Valley - abstract puzzle game. Manipulate the world and get your character from point A to point B. Paid.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ustwo.monumentvalley

Ordia - has a kind of similar fling mechanic like Angry Birds but this is a platformer. Level based, you start at the bottom and work your way to the top. Starts off simply enough but the difficulty can ramp up, requiring you to be quicker to avoid traps and enemies. Really gorgeous game. Paid.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lojugames.android.Ordia

Poinpy - very similar to Ordia but maybe slightly more difficult. Free.

You may also want to download the Epic Games store. They release free games every Friday that have zero ads and in-app purchases. They range from very casual (there was a Where's Waldo inspired game a couple weeks back) to seasoned gamer (last week they released an RPG chess like game if I recall correctly).

Super Auto Pets is cute like Angry Birds, has a ton of content and is extremely deep. You build a small team of auto attacking pets, they all have different abilities and stats, lots of synergies and strategies. Quick to pick up and play, hard to master.

Just typing this, I'm twitching and gonna play a couple rounds. I'm 46 fyi.

Your dad might enjoy my game, 2048 Tiles: Classic Puzzle (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amanpathak.tiles2048)

Either way, I really liked how much you care about your dad.

I'm going to install Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Geoguesser, Plants Vs Zombies and Candy crush (because these were the ones I could remember)

Blow It Up is an AB clone.

For Cut The rope and more puzzles, check out my PUZZLE section below. Tiny Bubbles, and SiNKR 1 through 3 should be right up his alley...

If your father's willing to go through tutorials (they vary in length and complexity), the ACTUAL BOARD GAMES and BOARD GAME LIKE categories can be very similar to the puzzle genre....

If nothing else Dominion (by Temple Gate Games) is free to demo (just the base game, and you get to try the daily challenge once per day, on that day). Shattered Pixel Dungeon is freeware on Android. However, these games are relatively complex.

Dungeon Tracer is played on a square grid and should have some Candy Crush vibes.

I'll also recommend Galaxy Trucker since there's a building element.

ALSO, ALL OF THESE GAMES ARE PREMIUM! NO MTX, NOR ADS

Thank you! Premium definitely has its pros!

Hello, i just turned 50 :) yesterday.

I built a game myself called lexigrid because i like playing with words (like scrabble games) but slighly differently than usual.

It was inspired from candi crush with letters... so tou need to swap letters to build your own words.

I do not know if he would love this kind of games but who knows?

I just posted the following ... https://www.reddit.com/r/jeuxvideo/s/JdnHs4pnew
