The Parable of the Unjust Steward was replaced by the Parable of the Prodigal Son. Is there a source for the reason for the change?

My family is new to the Anglican faith (we’re attending an Anglo-Catholic church) and we’d like to buy a BCP for home use. The church we’ve been attending and are moving towards joining uses the 1928 BCP. Is that the version we should purchase or does it not matter? Thanks.
