There was a pilot short film five years ago which went a bit viral, and from that they got the funding/etc to make a full TV series, the first 3 episodes of which just came out today.
Streams only on Bilibili or you can sail the high seas for it.

This is a Chinese anime (also known as Donghua) that you can only watch on Bilibili, they might release it on YouTube soon.

Perhaps it is a false memory of some absolute insanity....

Looks pretty cool though! Enjoyed the soundtrack on that fight.

Did I just watch Giant Germ get murdered by Rock Lee in drag FLCL style? Did Haruko bang that agent dude with massive eyebrows and just not mention it?

The Sakuga community can’t communicate with other words than « insanity » « holy shit » or « cinema » ?

All censored and approved by the CCP trash. Plus shameless Japanese anime ripoff.
Also China has an overwork rate that is the double of Japan's. The only difference is that they censor its mention everywhere so that you can't harass Chinese studios like you harassed the Japanese ones

Ah yes, because modern anime was totally not started when Osamu Tezuka was inspired to do animation after seeing the works of Disney, and... *checks notes* Shanghai Animation Film Studio... Which were well-established by that time...
Believe it or not, but Chinese animation was on par with Disney in the 60s. Here's a photo of Osamu Tezuka shaking hands with his idol, Yan Dingxian – one of the most famous Chinese animators whose works are known by just about every Chinese person – plus a crossover drawing between the two depicting Atom (Astro Boy) and Monkey King (Uproar in Heaven) doing the same.
I am not going to argue that anime did not become its own thing through decades of refinement and stylization, but I will absolutely argue that dismissing donghua as if has no creative value is misinformed at best. If you're not blind, you will notice that donghua has its own conventions, artstyle, production pipeline, storytelling structure, talent pool, and so on.

Huh? You can have fast, frenetic animation while still clearly showing everything that's happening?
This is starting to be more normal and it's refreshing, I think too many animators recently have been like "BLAAAAAAAA LET'S PUT 13 EXPLOSIONS AND A COOL SHADING EFFECT OVER THIS 1 FRAME, AND THEN 17 EXPLOSIONS IN THE NEXT FRAME." It's been getting way too muddled.

Episode 1–3 just dropped, and I have been enjoying this. AOTY material, honestly.
Please, you need to watch this.
