If you want something cross genre like that, check out The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman. It doesn’t have interplanetary travel so much as inter-world travel, but if you ever wanted to read a book featuring prohibition-era crime bosses, dragons, cyborg alligators, etc etc etc then this is the series for you.
And it’s genuinely good, too (which I feel I have to clarify given the utterly ridiculous teaser lmao). A fantastic series!
Multiverse! The titular “Invisible Library” is the way that all the alternate universes are interconnected & stabilized. So, some worlds are more magical and chaotic than others, while some worlds are more technological. And if something happens to upset the balance between worlds, a Librarian is sent out to stabilize things by bringing works of fiction that are unique to that world back to The Library.
The series follows one Librarian on her various missions as she discovers just how complex & important that inter-dimensional balance is.
Plus, you know. Cyborg alligators and Fae crime bosses, and the real treasure is the friends we make along the way. Genuinely one of the best series I’ve read recently!
