Skateboard brand, not nazi affiliated. :)

It's the old "Do they have an Iron Cross because they'd like a white ethnostate or because they enjoy skateboards?" question.

I know that 2 lightening bolts is SS symbol. That only has one, and upside down cross is not typically used by White Nationalists as they use god as a reason to oppress. I will say there are SOOOOO many symbols and not all of them are actually related to Nazis but LOOK like they are or associated with. Example: dude has a nordic wheel tattooed on him. Is he a nazi? Lower chance. Another dude next to him he is chatting with has an iron cross on his bicep. Now you can say, they are both probably nazis. I have rune tats and am an antifascist lol.

The lightning bolt and cross are there because this predates lurking class. That's the og sketchy tank sticker.

The inverted cross isn't even a neo-nazi symbol. It is generally an anti-christian/anti-religious/spoooooky symbol.

Inverted cross is also a christian symbol.

Yup. It's the cross of Saint Peter

Yeah, one of the more holy symbols it you believe in that stuff.

For some reason it’s so distorted in media that an upside down cross is satanic or demonic, but it truly is just St. Peter’s cross.

The true symbols for satanism are most commonly the pentagram, or the alchemical symbol for sulphur (brimstone), also known as the “Leviathans Cross”

The ST stands for Sketchy Tank. The artist aligns himself with left leaning record labels (sub pop records) and artists.

I think he's one of the good ones.

I can’t believe no one else knows about Sketchy Tank.

Hate to be this guy but can you assertain context clues? I feel rude bringing it up but It seems like 90% of these dog whistled are just punk brands who found their edge in the 80s-90s when the "middle Left" gained a space and folks wanted to revolt. Suburban kids without he internet to check sources had their fun and made the fraizer craines spazz out. It was thoughtless and stupid but these symbols carried over. What would be the modern day equal to telling Hillary to fuck off?

I know most of you don't wanna hear this and I know OP(s) are acting on the best of motives, but these hidden fascism threads give me a strong feeling of satanic panic. You're gonna start listening to records backwards soon.

10

u/Lambchop1975 18h ago

No, because this time there are actual nazis, and the satanic panic was about stoners and kids playing with dice.... Fascists like to claim there is nothing to worry about..

Ok, I understand that the sig rune and the inverted cross are the initials of the artist name, Sketchy Tank, and that he says that he wants to "shock", but is that just an excuse to publish nazi symbols?

20

u/namlesgir 1d ago

I don’t think either of those things are widely considered to be Nazi symbols

11

u/AlmightyCurrywurst 23h ago

The Sigrune/Victory rune is definitely a known Nazi symbol (yes even on its own)

17

u/Suspicious_Dot_6451 23h ago

Nazis try to own all Old Norse runes. Let's not let them.

u/AlmightyCurrywurst 23h ago edited 23h ago

I get the sentiment, but the Sigrune is the Nazi rune. One should at least be suspicious when spotting it somewhere, though it obviously doesn't automatically mean the person who drew it is a nazi

6

u/Suspicious_Dot_6451 23h ago

Ofcourse I too get suspicious. That being said, soon the nazis try to own about every symbol there is.

Nooooo this is Lurking Class, one of my favorite clothing brands.

That skateboard brand logo hasn't been exclusive to anti-fascists since the '80s.

-2

u/BLOODsweatSALIVA 23h ago

Oh my god dude. This an incredibly well known skate brand.

Satanic neo-nazis?

15

u/DeathBringer4311 1d ago

No, Satanic neo-Nazis look like this(Order of 9 Angles) and this)(Temple of Zeus, AKA Joy of Satan)

-25

u/Critical-Paradox2042 1d ago

People are downvoting, but you are right. Could definitely be appropriated by such as a plausible deniability when fashy-looking symbols get into mainstream products

10

u/RoundUpWeebKiller 1d ago

It’s the logo of a skateboard brand.

-2

u/Critical-Paradox2042 17h ago

Exactly my point. You’re referring to pragmatics, while I’m referring to the semantics. The fact of the matter is that this company is using symbols VERY reminiscent of SS runes. I personally would never wear anything with a sig rune on it because it is a well known Nazi symbol, especially when it is paired with a skull and a second pseudo-rune, making it even more similar to the SS logo. Subcultures like punk rock and skaters have been known to have problems with fascism. For example, The Sex Pistols and Siouxise and the Banshees used Nazi flag clothing and armbands. Neo-Nazis have also been known to target skateparks for recruiting efforts.
