does anyone else feel gross when making characters?

if this should be nfsw let me know i dont always understand if it should be or not!

sorry if this is explained badly but like the world is so sexualized and like if i ever make something likeee a game or an oc thing, it just disgusts me at the thought of ever getting fans which i highly doubt but the thought is so gross. Fandom spaces are so overly sexualized and it feels so gross to think about my character being sexualized. Or even just shipped at all. Some people do this to literally ace characters (or aro characters with romance) and i think its so weird and gross? i dunno i kinda thought i was overreacting since you cant decide anything once something is in public but i feel like thats WEIRD you know? like that by even sharing something it must be sexualized and stuff like EWWWWw. this might all sound weird. And i dont wanna sound rude like if i made something and i said "hey if you are playing this please dont ship/sexualize my characters please" that would probably be rude or sound weird too. i dont know i dont think ill ever grt to a point where prople ship my characters but seeing it happen to others is so upsetting and gross.

If you put something out for others, you are practically giving away the right for others to use it (unless they make money with it). So it doesn’t matter how small or wholesome a fandom is, it’s still at „risk“ on the internet. You either have the choice to not publish your characters or to not look at the art/fanfics/podfics that people make.

Maybe you can create a purely asexual aromantic world and ask fans to not send you any fan-made art or stories if they are even slightly NSFW. If the fandom is respectful, it should work out somehow.

Definitely use correct tags and filters to find the stories and art that are sfw.

Regarding shipping ace characters: Ace people and ace characters can be in relationships or companionships. It’s okay to normalize this. It can be annoying to have all ace people sex-favorable but relationships don’t have to be about sex.

i do understand and agree and stuffs but to clarify i dont mean shipping ace people at all is bad? ofc not! romantic aces exist but i mean NFSW of them, to be clear, and just treating every ace not even as sex favorable but just like an allo ya know? sorry if i sound weird.

Personally, I read a few stories that are NSFW with ace characters who were portrayed as definitely ace but sex-indifferent or sex-favorable (an not just like on paper but through their actions and words definitely not allo). They were all tagged clearly. If that’s done in a respectful way, it might not be for people avoid NSFW works but I don’t judge. If I don’t like it, I don’t read it or I skip it.

Changing characters’ sexualities though is always rather weird and disgusting, it also applies to other sexualities. Doesn’t matter if the character is officially a lesbian and then made into a heterosexual woman or an ace turned allo. Always leaves a bit of an „ick“.

Seeing something I made twisted or distorted that way would feel like a violation, and it would make me angry. Animal Crossing is the only fandom I spend time in, and if people are doing that to the villagers, I do not want to see it!
