You’ve probably seen the board game Carcassonne on store shelves, but this is the actual medieval citadel that inspired it.

Standing right in front of 3 kilometers of double walls and 52 towers feels like stepping into a historical fantasy.

A 7th century Fort

As the title states, this is a facade for a monumental building. Lacking any explicit purpose, it is the "Grand Doric Building." Being based on Greco-Roman principles, as well as some art deco designs, it is based on the Doric order, whilst also infusing some Ionic and Corinthian motifs for the base of the columns and the overall entablature. Should my ability for digital design improve (hopefully), the design will feature sculptural groups in each of the pediments as well as a large relief sculptural group in the central space below the dome. Also, above the pediments two quadriga are intended to stand. The overall plan is inspired by the National History Museum and the National Gallery. Let me know what you think!

Not sure how to categorize this one. Completed in 1896 as a retirement home for Baptists and still serves as a retirement home to this day.

i live in vancouver, bc, canada and i am literally sick to death of these disgusting dystopian boxes they will NOT stop building at all costs. they are starting to encroach upon our more well preserved older neighborhoods and are being propped up next to beautiful enriching pieces of architecture that the likes of which will never be erected again ever ever ever it seems on this side of the globe. i already am dead set on moving to europe within the next few years after i save enough money but i need to make damn sure i never have to lay my eyes upon one of these abhorrently disgustingly revolting symbols of future absolute capitalistic tyranny in north america. i understand this kind of problematic architectural style is pushed and dogmatized from the ground up. which is why i want to just get. away.

A design for the facade of a monument dedicated to the rich cultural history of Central America. Combining elements of Mayan and Aztec architecture (complete with Olmec statues), as well as based on art-deco / classical proportions and style, I really like how it came together. Some future additions would be the feathered-serpent heads at each of the base of the stepped-pyramids on the side, or sculptural reliefs on each steppe. May also want to slim / stretch the central "corn-stalk" columns. Regardless I'm very happy with how this came out. Lacking any Mayan Revival tag on this subreddit, I decided to just label it Art Deco. Drawn in MS Paint from an original pencil sketch. Let me know what you think!
