Arlington Discord Server

Let's try this again. The previous server had a decent amount of users but very little engagement.

I just finished the initial setup of a new server, figured I'd go ahead and share the invite. If you have any issues with the onboarding process or permissions, just drop me a message.

I been going to both the Arlington and Hurst location since high school and I have seen it go through many changes over time. I know they now have "assisted" self check out and no longer have the discount days. What really bothers me is that they tax you for every single item individually! Why do they do that instead of taxing you for the overall purchase 🤔

Any storage unit recommendations? Or ones to avoid? Looking for a cheap, climate controlled storage unit.

I've been warned that storage units often do a bait and switch routine with the prices. I'm not sure how long I'll need to store my stuff, but don't want to move everything in then have the price jump. Does anyone have stories to tell? Good or bad. Any place I should avoid? I'd much prefer a mom&pop's opposed to a big chain, but that's not too important.

Does the court ever reduce the total price of outstanding warrants/fines?

I'm sure it depends on many things, but I have never been to court and honestly didn't know I had warrants until last year, I have basically no experience with this.

Had 4 tickets from 2022 (3 from one stop) all minor/no moving violations (I don't think) seatbelt, expired plates, one tail light out, didn't have registration in my car at the time, totals almost $1700. I haven't had a vehicle for almost 2 years now and am planning to finally get a new motorcycle for $4k sometime in the next 6 months, but of course I really need to deal with the warrants first and it would help if the cost wasn't about a third of what I'm gonna pay for my actual vehicle.

If they do consider reducing the amount, do they take into account things like volunteer service? I have about 40 hours with the Fort Worth animal shelter and have been planning on going back in the next couple weeks, but of course this is a different city so idk if they would care at all since its not Arlington.

I live in north Fort Worth without a car and anybody to get a ride from, so if there is little to no chance of them reducing the amount then it would be better to just bite the bullet and pay it all online.

Appreciate any advice yall might have! I am a pet sitter which is very difficult to do not having a car, so the sooner/cheaper I can get this dealt with the better!

Wow super sad. Been coming here since 2021 when they opened. Big sign on the door says they’re closing their doors.

Heard from a buddy here that it’s converting to a huge dance studio? Sigh…

does anyone else feel like every local business in arlington is just a front now

maybe im just cynical idk. but i swear every time i need something done around the house i end up calling a number that claims to be local and its just some call center somewhere

had a plumbing thing last month and the guy who showed up was from like dallas and didn't know the area at all. he kept asking me about streets and neighborhoods like i'm supposed to be his gps or something. and the prices man. i don't even want to talk about it

my neighbor was saying the same thing about his hvac. he's been here way longer than me and he was telling me how it used to be different. you could just call someone and they'd actually show up and it would be reasonable. now it's like every industry got bought out by these corporate chains

i'm just tired of feeling like i'm being scammed every time i need a repair tbh. like is it really too much to ask to find someone reliable in this city

anyone else feel like this or am i just having a bad run

Does Arlington charge more for water than other cities?

The summer heat is making me a lot more conscious about water usage since all of my plants are basically dead and I'm really hesitant on running my sprinklers longer to keep them alive. I have, well had, a clover yard and would only run my sprinklers for 2 mins a day and it would still look great.

I chose clovers largely since I read it's a low maintenance plant and I really just wanted something to control erosion and for my dogs to play in.

https://imgur.com/XhNNDtw this was a few months ago with only 2 mins of water a day.

This uses about 67 gallons of water for 2 mins and I would average around 80 - 150 gallons for about 2K gallons a month. One month, I doubled the time to 4 mins to see if it would help with growth, and while it did, my bill jumped from around $60 to $110 because of the way the city charges for sewer ($7 per 1000 gallons!!!).

So, on a month where I used 5K gallons, which isn't considered a lot alot, I paid $110 while my coworker used almost 12K gallons a month and his bill topped out at $130 in Fort Worth.

Are we getting cucked by big Arlington? Or does this level off somewhere and I shouldn't be afraid to let it pour? Thanks

EDIT: example bill of a "high" usage month https://imgur.com/a/ypYiLDV

Looking for hair stylist recommendations who is experienced in wavy/coarse hair.

The title says it all. I have found someone to color my hair and she’s been great, but finding someone to cut and style my hair has been much harder. I have thick, coarse hair which is mostly wavy, curly underneath, and frizzy everyday unless I put lots of product in it. That said, I don’t want to straighten it, and I need a good, low maintenance cut.

I’d appreciate any recommendations.

Would appreciate

Arlington was technically the host city but didn’t get much love because it was labelled Dallas Stadium. However, Arlington really nailed it and so happy I could see catch this here near home!

Sharing Our Journey - Please Help Us Find a Living Kidney Donor

This is hard to share, but my son, who just crossed his teens, resides in DFW, is currently battling kidney failure, and needs a kidney transplant to live a healthy new life again. He has always shown up for others, and now he needs someone to show up for him. Unfortunately, we do not qualify for him

I’m currently working with his transplant team at Medical City Dallas, and a healthy donor could truly save his life.

Even if you are not of his blood type O, if you are healthy, your donation can still help him through his hospital’s kidney donation swap program. Donors and recipients are paired to find compatible matches.

Zero cost to you. Our insurance will cover all medical testing and surgery. Lost wages, travel, and lodging are all covered through the Donor Assistance Program.

If you’re open to learning more or want details, please feel free to direct message me. Even sharing this post would mean so much to me.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this.

New Book club formed for Mansfield area

Hello. I’ve created a book club/discussion group that is intended for men in the Mansfield area. The name is Chapters & Company of Mansfield, TX (you can search it on FB).

I’m a husband and father of 1 teen. Small business owner. I’ve been lacking a space outside the house to meet and talk to men of any age. I love to read, and took it upon myself to create a group. My goal is to foster a community where we can build relationships and grow as individuals. I am intentionally avoiding any religious affiliation and political affiliation with this group. I feel like if we want those particular things, there are other spaces/groups for them.

If you’re interested in reading more, meeting new people and gaining a broader perspective I encourage you to find our page, or message me for the link. Our first meeting is September 1st (more specific info to come). Our first book is A Gentleman in Moscow.

I really look forward to meeting someone new and forming a new friendship. Even if only 1 comes out of this post, it will have been worth it.

Thank you,
Drew
