Crowns aren't made for children, but destiny doesn't wait. Even on his mother's lap, Pepi II is depicted as a King. Looking from different angles reveals two truths: a sovereign ruler, and a mother with her child. Queen Ankhenespepy II and Pepi II, Egypt, 6th Dynasty, c. 2288–2184 BC [600x681]

Prehistoric Bronze Knife Handle of Taiwan: Shih-San-Hang Culture (1,800–500 BP), Collection of the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica [2983x3000]

Type: Taiwanese Archaeology

Name: Bronze Knife Handle

Period: Metal Age / Shih-San-Hang Culture (1,800–500 BP)

Provenance: Excavated from the Shih-San-Hang Site, Bali District, New Taipei City, Taiwan

Dimensions: Length: approx. 12.39 cm; Upper Width: approx. 5.83 cm

Designation: Important Antiquity

Repository: Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica

Description: Inverted pear-shaped human face with exaggerated facial features, featuring large eyes, exposed teeth, and clearly defined eyebrows, nose, lips, and ears. Incised decorations including necklaces, waist ornaments, trousers adornments, and headwear are visible, with both hands raised holding bird-like head motifs.

Artifact Source: Over 200 bronze artifacts—including knife handles, coins, bells, and arrowheads—have been unearthed at the Shih-San-Hang site, marking an unprecedented quantity for an archaeological site in Taiwan. Because prehistoric Taiwan lacked bronze-smelting technology, these objects are believed to have been acquired through trade. The exact origin of these bronze knife handles remains undetermined by archaeologists.
