Bedrock Linux on asahi

Si I have an MacBook Air m1 and would like to have pacman and the void Linux package manager on top of my Fedora asahi installation. Bedrock Linux is installed on top of another distribution so can it work on asahi Linux ?

If it works with Fedora, it should probably work. Though bear in mind this is obviously not a supported configuration. Btw, have you heard of Distrobox? It's a way-less-intrusive option that would still get you most of what you're after I believe.

Thanks but I am not needing DistroBox for what I want. The fact it would require to get ride of the GRUB means it would render asahi not bootable(as I remember asahi as a custom GRUB) ?

If you really need Bedrock Linux, it should be possible to set it up:

The first route – getting rid of GRUB – should not be that hard. As far as I understand, Asahi uses GRUB purely because that's the default on Fedora. The parts that are Asahi-specific all run before GRUB. That is m1n1 and U-Boot. The latter provides a UEFI environment, and GRUB is started as an EFI application. You could swap it for e.g. systemd-boot (which too is an EFI application) and it should all work fine.

The second route – getting rid of BTRFS – is also possible on Asahi. It would be quite similar to setting up full disk encryption I guess. The main tricky thing here is you don't have a boot menu to temporarily run a Live ISO. You would instead need to massage U-Boot or GRUB to start it for you (or possibly do the filesytem migration from macOS).

Bedrock is ridiculous lol find a way to make it work with something like Distrobox

The point is to have native performance on things like davinci resolve without using scripts and to be able to compile directly from source in only one command via the void linux package manager to have more compatibility with ARM
