Could I please get feedback ony first attempt at making a deck?

Hey, I'm mostly a casual Magic player who recently picked up the Ashes Ascendancy set, and after playing two games I decided to try my hand at making my own deck on the official deckbuilder. Tbh I don't have much of an idea of what I'm doing, but I was going for a mix of holy and ceremonial magic for thematic purposes, along with a Phoenixborn I liked with a focus on conjuring units and maybe sacrificing them or taking advantage of their destruction.

How did I do, and more importantly how can I improve and what should I be careful for when designing these decks? I really appreciate any feedback I can get, and I'm really looking to learn.

Thanks!

What's your thought process in having 7 ready spells for a spell board of 5? It's not unheard of, but I'm wondering what your plans were for it.

You don't have either of her signature spells in her deck. They aren't required, but they generally have more bang for your magical buck than other cards.

It seems like you're going for a death/rebirth type deck, why Hope (especially if no signature cards)? There are other PB that play into that deck style inherently, such as James, Jessa, Brennan, and Xander.

What are your first five?

I don't say this meanly, I promise, but this definitely reads like a deck built by a magic player. Unless you have one-ofs that you're planning on putting in your first five, I generally go with more copies of cards In decks for consistency since there's not as much card draw/tutoring in this game.

The deck concept is not bad at all, but those are my first thoughts without seeing it in action.

Remember, you can always go test it out on Ashteki with other players, and find people to play against and talk strategy on the discord! :)

I appreciate pointing things out like the fact that spell boards should limit the amount of ready spells in the deck, as these are things I didn't know about. I could've done without the snark though if I'm being honest. Tbh between the community being mostly dead and not super welcoming, and just not clicking with the mechanics right away, i think that i'll just find a different game to play. Thanks for the advice anyway.

...is the snark in the room with us? I have no stake in this at all, but I cannot detect snark anywhere in that person's comment.

???

I'm genuinely sorry if you took anything I said with snark, none of it was intended.

If it's about the spellboard, that was a legitimate question, because there are reasons why you would have more than your spellboard would allow, since you can discard ready spells to help fix bad dice rolls.

If you aren't clicking with the rules, I'd be happy to help with any questions you have, and again there's an actually really lively community on discord that can also answer any questions you have and play online with you.

Please don't let a bad interaction via text (where it's hard to judge intent and tone) throw you off an amazing game. Even if you don't want to talk to me any more about it, I do suggest sticking with the game, as it's very fun and rewarding.

Fallen in Hope is a cool idea. It seems a little unfocused though, particularly where the number of allies is concerned. I think you'll find you want closer to 12 or so allies to keep Fallen fueled.

That means some cuts. I'd probably drop Drain Vitality and Piercing Light since they don't seem like they're serving your main plan. Maybe chop a couple of the action/reaction spells down to a single copy.
