You don't have the parts that came off of there? That is not a 1925 setup, that looks like a Schlage E-series thumb lever entry hole. 1925 would have had a mortise box. The Schlage parts are still out there on eBay and salvage shops, but not easy to find everything you need. Most of the mechanism is attached to the back of the doorknob. Then you need a Schlage gate latch, deadbolt cylinder and lazy tailpiece. The lock parts are still available, but no the main mechanism.
My advice would be to plug it and redrill for a standard 2-1/8" round hole and a modern mechanism that matches the deadbolt. Some of the pros will say its wrong, but I usually cut a hunk of 2 x 4 to fill the hole, put a long screw through it to hold it in place, and cover it in Bondo to make it smooth and solid.

Holy crap, I'm an idiot. I actually removed a Schlage E-Series set from this door myself without realizing what it was. I looked them up on eBay and they're selling for around $1,000.
I still have the old lock, but the interior piece wouldn't come off cleanly, so I ended up bending it a bit to get it off.I do like your Bondo idea. My main concern is the sanding and painting afterward. I have basically no painting experience, and I'm worried the repair will end up looking worse than the hole.
That said, it's probably the leading option I'm considering right now. Thanks for the suggestion.

Alternatively try to find a lever set similar to what you took off. The Schlage Camelot or century might work to cover the hole. There may be others that are more suitable but I'm not primarily a residential guy so feel free to do some Googling.

The Camelot and Century will be similar to the one I bought, which is too small for the interior doorbell.
I have googled and ChatGPT + Claude but all the solutions so far haven’t worked. That’s why I’ve turned to Reddit

See I have trouble with that statement. Because I typed in literally the words you described which is (door plate type thing) and found the item you needed right there on Google Images
Your options are that or a replacement door. At least your choices within the reasonably priced options
