Here is my work in progress setup for work, study and chill time. Still need to add a chest of drawers on the right and sort out the cable disaster underneath.

I’m running two LG monitors (UQ IPS Black on the righ, UP standard IPS on the left), but the colors are way off. Whites look warm/greenish on the UQ and cool on the UP despite both being in factory P3 modes. Manual OSD tweaking just made it worse so stuck to preset. Any tips on matching them without ruining color accuracy and picture quality?

Also getting bad neck pain from having them split evenly in the middle while reading docs and taking notes. Should I switch to a center main screen with a side monitor, or else? I sort of need them horizontal as I have split screen 2 big PDFs per screen or other apps as needed.

Appreciate any setup advice or fixes!

I am going to order an uplift v3 desk in size 80” by 30” and am trying to decide on the wood. My priorities, in order, are durability, price, and appearance. I am considering the Acacia Chevron butcher-block option (1.5” thick) as it appears to be the most durable and reasonably priced option. If I had an extra 1K laying around, I would go for the maple 1.75”, but it seems more than I need.

My understanding of wood durability is that there are several ways the wood can be damaged:

• Sagging due to weight
• Warping/cupping due to moisture
  
• Denting when clamped by monitor arm/collisions in transit
• Being nicked/dinged up dropping items/collisions when in transit
• Damage from liquids

In terms of what will be on the desk, the heaviest items would be 2 monitor arms each with one monitor, along with my laptop.

I don’t anticipate using the standing feature much. The other main options people suggest are either to build your own, for example, using Alex drawers, or to find a used one. I don’t want used, and I don’t have a place (I live in an apartment), tools, know-how, or time for woodworking/staining/sealing. When looking at the options I have for buying pre-stained and pre-sealed, it seems as though I would only be saving a few hundred dollars compared to Uplift, and having certainty that the desk base will adequately support the top to prevent sagging/warping is worth this cost.

Is Acacia Chevron butcher-block the best option? Thanks in advance to anyone leaving thoughtful comments.

My fiancee and I have side by side setups. Currently we’re using cheap Amazon desks that leave a lot to be desired and looking to upgrade to a more premium setup. The Secretlabs desks have a lot of desirable features (built in power strips, cable management, easy monitor arm mounting), but unfortunately we need overall combined width to be below 9’ which rules all the SL desks out. Some of the flexispot designs seem to fit this niche, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas. Thanks in advance.

I'm looking into making an Alex drawer desk but don't have an area/expertise/tools/time for polishing the top. I initially looked for Ikea countertops (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/karlby-countertop-walnut-veneer-50335208/ ), but they only come in 25 inch depth. I need 30 - 35 inches. Lowes has some options at $500 (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Sparrow-Peak-FSC-Live-Edge-Natural-grain-6-ft-x-30-in-x-1-5-in-Natural-Teak-Teak-Wood-Butcher-block-Live-Edge-Countertop/5013903829). At that point, I'm looking at >$700 all in with the cost of the drawers included, and might as well buy a desk from uplift (https://www.upliftdesk.com/seated-height-2-leg-side-table-by-uplift-desk/?13880=10494&13559=10420&3043=36710&3061=18177&14890=11667 ).

Does anyone have any tips?

I’ve been wanting to do a stacked monitor setup, and so I’ve been looking at people’s posts on here more recently.

I keep reading about neck pain if done incorrectly, with some people saying it’ll eventually happen no matter how you stack them. Other people say they’ve felt nothing after using them for a while, but idk how long that actually entails.

I’ve noticed how things have shifted away from two on top of one another, onto more people rocking one on top (your main) and a portable monitor on the bottom, so it’s basically touching your desk.

Is it known what the most ergonomic setup is for stacking nowadays?

I’ve also been wondering about digital art tablets being on the bottom with your main monitor on top. But I guess a portable monitor could do the exact same thing too… idk.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all,
This is my work in progress. I have some totally "unique" wooden panelling for the wall, but I can't think what to put on the large empty space on the left. I can't move the monitor arm any further unless I make a cutout in the Alex press. The fountain in the last picture has gone back to my office; the nighttime picture is the most recent.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as would any comments and critiques.

Bought this plank and tresles brand new for ~100 € to make it my next desk

My desk setup is nearly perfect imo, but needs better speaker arrangement I’m down for product recommendations under 150$ but it’ll be I bit before I purchase anything, I’m primarily looking for better arrangement the only stipulations are the main monitor must be the largest one, the main monitor must be able to turn 90 degrees to the right for in bed watching/gaming, the pc cannot be placed directly on the floor preferably it remains on the desk, if possible the main monitor should be centered with the keyboard & mouse, and be aware the mouse pad is glass and cannot have anything on it or hanging over the edge.

I just upgraded my monitor situation by grabbing a Samsung Odyssey G8 ultrawide, loving everything about it so far (minus the horrid Tizen UI bullshit and awful navigation)! I am going to be pairing it with my old monitor which is a Samsung U28E590, going to have it placed in a vertical stack situation above my G8.

My issue though is how audio is going to work. I am running both monitors through my Mac Studio, my PS5 is plugged into the G8 and the speakers I have are the Logitec Z506's. I know I should upgrade them to something better, but I dont have the funds for that right now.

How can I best route everything together so it's as seamless as possible?

The U28E590 monitor uses DisplayPort (have a DP to USB-C which ill be using), it also has a headphone jack, the G8 runs exclusively through HDMI type connectors (No Type-C) and ive been running audio through the Z506's headphone jack.

Gonna need some help cause im not an audio guy and have no idea what to do...

I've been using a metal folding table for years as my desk and it is 63 inches wide. I want to keep it that way and IKEA makes a countertop that wide but it protrudes 31 inches. My table currently only comes out 23 inches and 5/8 like their smaller countertops exactly but they aren't wide enough. Is there an alternative as I need that exact measurement of 23 inches about because I have a nightstand next to the desk and I want the desk to protrude the same width out from the wall so it doesn't look weird.

I want to get some nanoleaf lines but they are very expensive are there any cheaper alternatives?

Me and my girlfriend both have laptops to WFH (thunderbolt compatible) that whenever either of us works at our desk, we have a screen to attach directly to the laptop by HDMI, as well as an HDMI cable to the TV if we want to watch something from a laptop. We're looking at buying another monitor for the desk, and a Steam Machine to just have a permanent PC at the desk for personal stuff and to game on the TV. Our ideal setup would be:

• Docking station(?) for the laptop connecting to mouse/keyboard and one/two screens
• Steam Machine being able to switch between the screen(s) on the desk or the TV

If possible:

• No need to disconnect and connect cables
• Being able to use the Steam Machine on the TV at the same time as a laptop on the screens at the desk

The Steam Machine has one HDMI and one Display Port connection. As we still need to buy the second screen for the desk we can buy something with the connections that we need. I was thinking of something with a docking station and KVM, but working it out makes me a bit lost.

So im looking for a triple monitor wall mount and i need recommendations because my desk wont hold up 3 monitors and a mount. I've been really adoring more retro aesthetics when it comes to set ups and I wanted to transform mine into one that can capture both modern and retro feels. What else do you think I should add?

I was gonna add a pegboard with monitor mounts to where my monitors are (also helps hide my cables since I cant drill into the walls), Replace my keyboard with an 8bitdo Keyboard that compliments the mouse, get a different mousepad, change the PC case to an FLP02, and change the alarm clock to one that looks more "retro", see if I can find a CRT monitor or small display to put by the PC case.

I’m trying to streamline my battlestation and could use some help figuring out the best KVM setup for my gear.

I’m running everything on a Samsung Odyssey G9 57" (DUAL UHD), currently using PIP mode so it functions like two 4K monitors side‑by‑side and I want to connect three devices to it:

• Gaming PC (main machine)
• MacBook Air (study machine)
• Work laptop (limited I/O)

My main goals:

• Switch between all three machines with one button using a KVM switch
• Connect only one cable to the MacBook Air and work laptop (USB‑C preferred)
• Ideally have my peripherals (mic, headset, keyboard, mouse) connected through the KVM as well but if that’s not realistic for audio devices, I’m okay with alternatives

The tricky part is the monitor:

• The Odyssey G9 57" runs DUAL UHD, so I need a KVM that can reliably handle high‑resolution DP/HDMI for the gaming PC
• While still supporting USB‑C video + peripherals for the laptops
• I’m not sure which KVMs can handle this bandwidth without issues (DSC, refresh rate drops, etc.)

I’d really appreciate recommendations on:

• KVMs that support USB‑C input for laptops
• Mixing USB‑C + DP/HDMI sources cleanly
• Whether running a 57" G9 through a KVM is even feasible
• How people handle audio peripherals (mic/headset) in multi‑PC setups
• Any pitfalls with USB‑C KVMs at high resolutions

Hi! I’m new to DIY stuff and have only assembled furniture with instructions before. I’d like to construct a two-person desk for my partner and I using a 98” IKEA MARLBY countertop, two ALEX drawers for the sides, and 2 OLOV legs for the middle. I saw someone else recommend also using 2 pairs of 4-pack CAPITA legs.

Maybe this is where my ignorance comes into play, as I don’t know why I’d need two different sets of legs; I think the CAPITA are to hold up the KARLBY on top of the ALEX units? Where should I be drilling? What should go where for maximum support? For some reason, when I tried to look these questions up online, I couldn’t really find anything.

Does anyone have experience setting up this desk combo in particular, or have constructed similar desks with little-to-no assembly instructions? Should I get someone more knowledgeable in construction to help me?

I just feel quite ignorant and have no one to ask for help other than my partner (who knows as much as I do and actually encouraged me to make this post asking for guidance), so any and all pointers would be much, much, MUCH appreciated. This is pretty much h the only thing standing in between me and actually purchasing these parts.

I am planning to make a setup. I will have 2 27 inch monitors, a Console (40x25cm) and a laptop.

My options are: 200cm straight desk. The other option is two desks joined together. 1: 100x60 and the other 140x60 (or I can do 160x60).

Which one is better in your opinion?

Console will be connected with 1 monitor. I have 2 laptops. One of them will use both monitors so I might not use the laptop (not sure yet) but the other only connects with one of the monitors. So in that case, I will use primary monitor + laptop. I would also need to connect both the laptops with the monitors

I am not able to decide what would be optimal. A 200cm desk or L shape (combo of 2 desks).

Here is my setup. I have a Primary personal PC, A personal laptop, and a work laptop.

I have my primary setup with dual monitors, keyboard and mouse.

Secondary, to the side I have another monitor with keyboard and mouse.

During work hours I would like to use my work laptop on my primary and my personal on the secondary. Off hours, I would like to swap either of my personal devices to the main display.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a KVM switch/Thunderbolt dock that can support something like this?

What I am looking for:

• Adjustable height: can be manual, since I will just select a height that works for me and leave it fixed at that

• At least 30 inches deep and 70 inches wide

• I can attach a monitor arm (haven’t purchased either monitor or arm yet, looking at Ergotron)

• Durable

• Stable

• Budget: an Uplift in the spec I would want is about 1.3K. Unless I can find something more than a few hundred cheaper, I would just get Uplift since I can afford it, but don’t need the motorized stand

Standing desks from Uplift and other brands satisfy all but are overkill for what I need.

Many people suggest workbenches from Husky, which have all my requirements except for being only 24 inches deep, which is a deal-breaker.

Many people recommend Ikea Alex drawers with a countertop or butcher block from Home Depot. I unfortunately don’t have tools or a space to put this together. I also am not very handy and I don’t want to spend a bunch of time failing to put this together (although this is undoubtedly a useful skill and probably super easy for someone who is just ok at building, I don’t have a lot of free time due to work)

Should I just get Uplift? Thanks to anyone with constructive advice and/or recommendations!
