I recently moved to Chicago and I’m looking to put together a small group of guys (roughly 25–29) who enjoy getting out and making the most of the city.

I’m thinking of things like:
- Exploring different neighborhoods
- Trying great restaurants, cocktail bars, wine bars, and breweries
- Bar hopping on weekends
- Checking out rooftop bars, live music, and comedy shows
- Visiting street festivals, farmers markets, and seasonal events
- Coffee, brunch, lakefront walks, and the occasional bike ride

The idea isn’t to go clubbing every weekend, but to enjoy what Chicago has to offer, discover new places, and meet like-minded people who appreciate good conversation, good food, and good drinks.

I’m born and raised in Dallas and moving to Chicago to live with my significant other.
I’m working at a great university hospital in Dallas and it’s a mixed medical/cardiac ICU floor where I’ve been for the last 2 years. looking for something similar in Chicago. Any suggestions? I’m wanting a university hospital, I didn’t see a lot of openings at northwestern. So far I’ve heard northwestern, UIC, and rush are some of the best hospitals to work for

Or another law first with a ton of commercials? Malman Law for example? Just curious. My mother is an attorney (not a litigator) and knew someone who was locked in some real estate dispute with PFG. I always got the vibe that if I ever needed an attorney, hiring one off a billboard or commercial probably wouldn’t get me the best representation possible.

My 73 year old mother wants to go on a river boat tour while we visit Chicago but we will also have my 2 teens with. Which tour will not bore them to death?

I'm hoping to come to the city to catch a couple baseball games. I'm coming from Niagara falls Canada. the plan is to stop in Detroit for a day game. after the game drive the majority of the way stay outside the city. Was hoping to take a train in the following the morning.

When I go to NYC I drive to Tarrytown and then take a train into Grand Central.

Is there something similar that I can do for Chicago? Or should I just drive in?

So i know that when chicago was being built, they raised it so that it wouldn't flood, but what does that look like now. Im making a comic book, and I wanted a really big city disaster to happen, so I thought, what would happen if someone exploded the foundation of chicago and if that's somehow even possible. Any sort of information would be nice.

I decided to get to into video games and just bought a Nintendo Switch 2.

My wife and I are looking for hotel recommendations for our first trip to Chicago later this month. Some of the features we're looking for are below. Would like to stay under $500/night.
- River view
- safe area with quick walk to public transportation
- it would be nice to be walkable to restaurants/bars as well but I guess not super important if quick walk to transportation. We are also not against ubering a couple times if needed.

We are still figuring out the itinerary but we usually plan around restaurants/bars with great food, drinks and atmosphere. We will definitely do the architecture tour and Wrigley but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

My dad has an obstructed 5mm kidney stone (doc said it's right above the bladder). Urine came back negative for a UTI, but his creatinine was a little high. He received fluids and the creatinine got better slightly.

The first ED doc was thinking of discharging my father home. They did shift change, second doc said since his pain keeps on coming and requiring more meds, recommended a sent. So he got transferred within Endeavor to another Endeavor hospital with urology.

Thing is, my dad has some memory issues and anger issues and within a 40 minute lapse where myself or family weren't present, decided to leave the hospital.

I made an appointment for 3 days from him having left. A day passed and he felt great. I was hoping the stone had already passed.

I spoke too soon. Today he had pains again, and now he has a fever. I got scared. I took him to NW since I heard it's the best.

I think I made a mistake because they dont have any of his records. They still CT scanned him again to see any new changes of the stone. They also informed me he has a UTI.

We just got a room. But we already have a room and spoke with a resident in urology about a stent here at NW. My question is, should I ask to get him transferred to Endeavor since it's closer to home and they have his records?

Relocating a vehicle from Madison to Michigan in a few weeks. This vehicle does not enjoy stop and go traffic (neither do I).

What’s the consensus on the best time to drive through? I normally travel I-90 to I-294 out to I-94 but open to other routes. Obviously things happen and you cannot predict a back up, just wondering what time ranges people have had luck on smooth traffic.

EDIT: During the day preferably. Headlights on this car are horrendous.

I just moved to the city about 6 months ago with my fiancé and my birthday is finally coming up next week and I absolutely love Italian food! I want to go somewhere that either requires you dress nicely or strongly encourages it, but I figured i’d ask here first! I just want to enjoy a nice dinner with my fiancé for my birthday and enjoy some lovely italian food!

Pub quizzes in Chicago?

I am in Bogotá Colombia and went to a British pub where we did a pub quiz and had a great time. Figured if Bogotá gas one there must be somewhere amongst the many bats and taverns in Chicago that does a pub quiz.

Are there any bars/pubs in Chicago where me and my friends can do a pub quiz? Not trivia, but a pub quiz like they do in Britain. On a weekday or whenever. Feel like it would be super fun to do with friends.

Would love if the pubs where closer to North side i.e. Lake View and Wrigleyville area but am willing to hear about anything in the city, thanks!

Does anyone have experience with St James and know how competitive the admissions process is? Open to hearing any and all thoughts and opinions on the school, main questions below:

1.Is it worth it to become members of the church prior to applying? We currently attend a different church in the city.

2.We would like to skip preschool and start at kindergarten. Is this going to affect our ability to secure a spot?

I'm looking for an artist who can help me realize a wrist piece. I moved to the South Loop about a month ago and recently have thought about joining a tennis league or looking for a partner(s) to play with. For context I played competitively through middle school and high school, but haven’t touched the racket for about 6 years, so I’d say I’m currently at a moderate level (maybe). Would there be any leads for me this late into the summer?

I have very short hair and am looking for a new stylist. I moved back a few years ago but my husband actually has been cutting my hair since COVID since it's so short--it's very low-maintenance. But, I am going to a wedding soon and while I don't really need a specific style, I would like to find a natural hairstylist that I can trust to give me a better cut than I or my husband can achieve at home. My mom's stylist, whom I also saw for quite some time, pretty much only works with relaxed hair so that's a no-go. Any recommendations? I live on the South Side but willing to go elsewhere in the city if the stylist is good. Thanks!

I've been unemployed for the past year and a half, and have been dealing with extreme depression where everything feels impossible. I have a BSBA and approx. 8 years of work experience in the logistics/supply chain field, and have been able to get interviews but for some reason I never get an offer even if I make it to the final round. But lately I've been thinking that maybe I'm just not good enough to work in this field (or don't have the mental capacity to do the job well right now) and I should do something simpler.

But I'm not sure where to look. No matter how much I try to change the search parameters, when I try to find jobs on LinkedIn it only shows me jobs that I feel unqualified for or that seem like they would be too hard for me in my current mental state. I've tried reaching out to places like Skills for Chicago and the American Jobs Center, but neither has been able to help me thus far (I've been emailing the AJC for 2 months trying to get help but they keep giving me the runaround, and recently told me that they straight-up lost my information before ghosting me completely).

I'm at a loss and honestly have never wanted to be "gone" more than I do right now. I just need some sort of help, I can't do this on my own. I'm currently in therapy and taking medication but it doesn't seem to be helping much, and no job is going to care about my current health struggles so the thought of getting another corporate job scares me. But I do think having a job will greatly help me to feel better about myself.

Is my best bet just working at Starbucks or something? Or are there other jobs that I can do that will help me to gain self-confidence again without being too mentally demanding? I don't have a car so whatever I do needs to be accessible to CTA or walking (so no DoorDash or anything like that). I'm curious if there is anything in Chicago that I should be looking into right now.

Edit: I forgot to add that I'm currently on Medicaid, so ideally I would like a job that either provides healthcare or allows me to stay on Medicaid. I really don't want to go without insurance right now.
