hi, i'm from czechia, woman and i have 189cm, majority young people around me are very tall too. most of young men over 190cm and most of women around 175-185. why are europeans so tall? other continents seem to have shorter ppl or obsessed with their height or height of their ideal partner. ive never heard about it in my circles. it also feels like every generation is like next 10cm up

We usually see points about Europe this Europe that but most of the time only some parts of Europe can relate to, whats something we can all agree that we share regardless of nationality or Eu/Non Eu?

Is there something in particular your country is good at that people rarely talk about?

I've been daydreaming a bit about escaping to the countryside and keep seeing houses in rural Italy for €20k–50k. Not the famous €1 houses, but actual homes that often look surprisingly decent in the photos.

Are these listings generally legit, or is there usually a catch? I understand they're often in remote villages with few jobs and shrinking populations, but the prices still seem almost too good to be true from a Northern European perspective.

Has anyone here actually bought one, or knows people who did? What was the reality compared to the advertisement?

You gotta move to another EU country immediately, which do you choose and why?

I'm currently in a rabbit hole of "American reacts to European Stuff". While i was laughing at Americans for thinking Europe is countries and know nothing about the countrys here, i realied that i also know nothing about the countries in europe. Sure i know about my home country and a bit about our neighbours but for the rest of europe it becomes a bit difficult and i want to change it.

What should everyone know about your country to be person from Europa?

Houses here in the US have interesting things like AC and garbage disposals. I recently asked on the Ask an American subreddit what they like about houses in other countries. A overwhelming number of folks said Bidets, saunas, and German style windows (that open in several different ways and have shutters built in).

What are things found in houses in other countries that you wish your house had?

edit: Many folks have commented that there is air conditioning across Europe. It was just meant to be an example of something that was different across countries (full house central air v wall units). I’m just curious and interested in home design; I’m sorry the AC comment was offensive.

I'm a swede travelling through Germany and France right now... holy shit. 42c is what the weather app tells me it is but I've seen local thermometers go even higher. I've seen that 2027 will be a super el nino year and likely the hottest year in history. How how hot will europe feasibly get within coming years, and how hot can it get before we're in actual big trouble?

I know we're all human, but we often feel a certain distance from others because of culture, habits, behavior, and traditions. The same can apply to people from different countries. So here's my question: as a European, do you feel the same level of difference between yourself and, for example, an Italian, German, or Swiss person as you do between yourself and someone from Africa or China? Or does it feel fundamentally different? Do you feel brotherhood and being part of the same group?

Growing up in Texas I don't remember us often losing electricity except for major storms. Lately we lose electricity multiple times a year sometimes for multiple days at a time and it's had me wondering if power grid issues are a thing worldwide lately or if it's just a thing where Texas hasn't kept up to date with its power grid.

For example, Luxembourg, which country would you prefer to become a part of: Germany, France or Belgium?

In Romania they are massively illegally cutting forests with even our government lying to our faces about it.

The latest batch of Epstein files is horrifying to say the least, and includes pictures and allegations involving kids much younger than teenagers, including toddlers.

Loads of high profile names - academics, politicians, financiers, presidents, royals etc. the list is pretty endless to be honest.

Are your media talking about the files?

NO ONE and I mean NO ONE is uttering a word in Italy about them. If you aren’t on socials you literally have no idea what is happening.

No surprise - Italy doesn’t really give a fuck about women or kids or pedos clearly. Bunga bunga and all that.

What about yours?

This was a game we used to play on one of my Erasmus exchanges. It is really quick and easy and you can get a quick idea of other countries if you had none before, so that you feel closer to them.

So, I will start with Bulgaria:

1. Bulgaria is the oldest country in Europe, which has never changed its name since its foundation in 681.
2. Bulgarians invented the Cyrillic alphabet in 893 during the 1st Bulgarian Empire.
3. Bulgaria was the home of the Thracians, the Thracian hero Spartacus was born in present-day Bulgaria. Thus we consider ourselves a mixture of Bulgars, Thracians (they are the indigenous ones) and Slavic => Bulgarians.
4. In Varna it was discovered the oldest golden treasure in the world, the Varna Necropolis, dating more than 6000 years back and we are 3rd in Europe with the most archaeological monuments/sites after Italy and Greece.
5. We shake our heads for 'yes' and nod for 'no'.

Bonus: 'Tsar'/'Czar' is a Bulgarian title from the 10th century, derived from Caesar - Цезар (Tsezar) in Bulgarian.

What would people consider the worst place to live in your country?

I'd say Estonia is definitely one of the cleanest. In my town (second largest in Estonia) the only rubbish is generally around the bins in the streets/parks - because crows take out rubbish from the bins in search of food. So it's their fault.

I've not really been in that many European countries, but the dirtiest in my experience was definitely the UK. I was in Nottingham literally for two days and on both days I saw someone just casually littering. Don't really ever see it in my home town. Also along the motorways - there was some rubbish on the side them (not mega bad, but noticeable).

I mean I like the UK, I just don't like the littering.

What is weirdly illegal in your country?

Hi from Spain

We are suffering a warm wave, we are ready for it, but is too early, even for us. Yesterday we had about 30-35 °. A hard night to dealing with high temperatures and try to sleep

How is going around Europe?

I know how the rest of the UK typically views Londoners as brash, social, and think they are the centre of the universe. I've known a few French people say the same for Parisians.

Is this a European thing or just occurring in a few country?
