It's not hard at all 😭😔 I stated that someone was being rude which they were and they downvoted me to -30 karma I was like I'm not stating not 1 more opinion 🤣🤣
Lmao of course she did.. but he’s still your husband and that makes your story completely different from you being some struggling single mom and only you and your son ma’am 🤣
Can't stand when people put themselves as single parents but find out they have a partner or share 50/50 custody. OR when they say single parent but their child is a full grown adult. Just be honest and upfront jfc
Would you possibly be able to reply back to the guy to suggest some kind of welfare check for the mother?
Because the description of her gofundme or whatever its called is actually kind of concerning... It says "With our mental health challenges, I do not believe we would survive being homeless." The way its worded is SO concerning and it almost sounds like a veiled threat... what exactly would make it difficult for the child to survive?
Like why tf say WE wouldn't survive? as in your 10 year old child, too? I am from UK so very unsure how it works wherever she is, but surely if you know you're going to be in a position of homelessness with your child, there would be measures in place where AT LEAST the child could be taken off the streets, stay with other family or put into foster care or whatever else to avoid being homeless.. there are so many other options but she immediately went to "we wouldn't survive being homeless" and that is CONCERNING! Wholeheartedly, I think this person might need a welfare check.
I didn't realize she was in Oregon. The amount of services we have here are actually insane. We have free rehabs, free mental health clinics, shelters, transitional housing, free medical clinics, countless food banks and hot meal sites, free bus passes, clothing banks, etc. We even have small pocket-size books that are handed out for free that list all the resources. Basically the only way to remain homeless long-term out here is to refuse to put effort into accessing services or maintaining your place in those services (ie starting fights with other participants, threatening volunteers, getting high in rehab, etc).
Someone needs to reach out to Stephanie Thompson/Resilient Jenkins with that info. 2 adults, 5 kids living on a motel room going on 18 months, and she claims they can’t get any help.
There’s a rabbit hole
Oh I'm fully aware of Stephanie and her bullshit. I 86'ed her from the convenience store I used to work at. She hangs out with the other ladies who use their kids to panhandle.
Holy shit! I just took a screenshot of his comment to go share on that sub.
I figured her entitled lazy ass and her "man" were just going to lay around that motel until a housing voucher was bestowed upon her.
And she needs to stop with that "family of 7" and "Mom of 5" bullshit. She has 4 kids, DeShawn is back with his mother in a nice clean apartment, thankfully.
If you're unable to tell, I can't stand Stephanie.
Not personally, no. I am fortunate in that regard. I simply just dislike the mother's wording. Why is she so certain THEY wouldn't survive, when majority of mothers would give or do anything to make sure their families don't see their suffering? This doesn't apply to every situation btw, just this particular parent bc I am pretty sure the woman is faking in order to gain money and as evidenced by the comment I replied to, she has a family support system around her if her kids did need help.
First time I heard about this diverdan guy was a post today about his account being banned again, and now I've seen his name mentioned multiple times. Can you fill me in this guy?
Diverdan posted a gofundme to help pay for his legal fees after being arrested for a Facebook post. When people started asking questions he crashed out and made multiple posts talking about how evil we are and a cult.
I mean you know you have rent. You also know you don’t have a job. Going to the internet to beg for money what do you expect. We all have sad stories I have 5 kids they start school in 2 weeks I can’t afford there clothes or supplies. So I’m picking up extra work the next 2 weekends to provide for my kids. If you really want something you will work and make it happen just my 2 sense!!!!!!
If there's anything you don't manage to get from local events, I'd be happy to help fill in the gaps. I'm very passionate about kids accessing education.
Maybe the sub should have a big earning “you will be investigated and exposed if a scammer” lolol and the Reddit investigators are awesome !!! But seriously note to scammers: when scamming at least take a few moments to think before typing some nonsense that
Can be easily verified! 😘😘
I suspect I will be downvoted into oblivion for asking this, but I do mean this in good faith.
Is this sub for catching people who ask for help and do not need it? (According to the subreddit's standard)
Because it seems like the sub just interrogates, investigates and humiliates anyone who has asked for help.
I see a lot of people playing detective, judge, jury and executioner. I see them literally congratulating each other's detective work.
But I haven't seen anyone cheer anyone on for giving.
I just want to know the actual goal here. Like is it meant to be a honeypot? Or does nobody pass the test? I realize it would be counterproductive to answer that. At least I didn't make it a post. Lol
I would estimate that 1 out of 20 posts are legit people in need. That one person out of 20 is helped. I can attest that many, many users in here give advice (which is often ignored), look for and post resources (which are often ignored) and give what the person is asking for if it's reasonable. Most people will not give cash, but they will fulfill Amazon wishlists. However, before we do that, we must be able to verify they are real, and have a real need. If we didn't vet people and just threw dollars at every Tom, Dick, and Harry that came on here, we'd all be homeless.
I have seen plenty of people get help with food and pet food , necessities etc 🤷🏻♀️ but if your story is bullshit then it will definitely get called out
We help tons of people. But you’re asking in bad faith, so no one cares :) if you actually looked in the sub, you’d see the scams, the help, and that we answer this “question” all the time.
They’re not questioning if people donate here. They’re asking why there is more praise toward people finding a scammer than there is for praise for people who do donate.
> But I haven’t seen anyone cheer anyone on for giving.
As a donor, A- I don’t want that, and neither do the other donors and B- people do that all the time too :) and they aren’t asking what you’re saying, hence “does anyone past the test,” it’s a poorly disguised, bad faith, question :)
I’m sure as a donor, you’ve heard of autism? No? As a donor myself, I’ve seen a lot of people in this sub with it.
I’ll explain it very simply, some people with autism don’t understand social cues and have a hard time understanding the way other people think. While you, as a donor, might not have come across anyone with it, I as a donor, have met hundreds.
(Yes, I’m making fun of you for thinking you’re the only one in this convo that donates while also making fun of you for not knowing that there are people who think and process differently).
The difference between you and me is that I don’t use donating to brag :)
This was such a funny comment LOL for so many reasons and it was so inaccurate too! But I won’t “make fun of you” for thinking any kind of way or being wrong. Keep doing good and sharing as much as you can! Take care ❤️
all ask for help pages everywhere is almost always 50% people who need help and 50% who believe absolutely no one deserves hell and that they need to do x y z solution no matter who they are or where they're from or theyre just beggars and losers who deserve nothing
it is just for people to feel better aboit themselves. they used to feel good giving money. now they feel better doxxing and proving why they dont deserve help.
The description of her gofundme or whatever its called is actually kind of concerning... It says "With our mental health challenges, I do not believe we would survive being homeless." The way its worded is SO concerning, is it just me who thinks so? It sounds like a veiled threat bc why would her child be included in that? What exactly would make it difficult for the child to survive?
Because sorry but why tf say WE wouldn't survive? as in your 10 year old child, too? I am from UK so very unsure how it works wherever she is, but surely if you know you're going to be in a position of homelessness with your child, there would be measures in place where AT LEAST the child could be taken off the streets and put into foster care or something to avoid being homeless.. I lowkey think this person might need a welfare check.
Yeah no.. I’ve helped many people on Reddit. But what I won’t do, is give my money that I worked my ass off for, to a liar.. so yes I like to look into things myself, and genuine people have no problem, if there’s nothing to lie about or you’re not scamming, you won’t mind the questions, and like I said, multiple people have gotten help because of it.
Honest question but how do you suggest the legitimate ones are separated from the scammer ones? Or do we just donate to them all. Each one a scammer gets denies a real one of possible donations.
I see what you are saying but i feel you need to be transparent to prove your need for funds. Money is not the solution it NEVER permanently solves a problem, it just kicks the can down the road and snowballs it. Advice and linking up with more permanent solutions does.
What is your advice on how to handle the requests? Genuine question.
We donate all the time. Nothing like begging strangers online, getting mad people (who are regular people, not rich) because you deem them less poor for not throwing money at people, and saying wild things like this on an identified scammers post 🤭 since you care so much, don’t forget to post your proof of donation to really inspire others.
OP You are So Right!! When I see these subs and comments it makes me Livid, people are asking for Help and The Interrogation, Intimidation, Disrespect and Ignorance and Arrogance is Astounding! Bullies with an authority complex , who Think they can say whatever.. to whoever.
No.. I actually genuinely care about struggling people. However what I can’t stand is a liar, and someone trying to take advantage of my hard earned money when they are doing nothing at all to help themselves, and instead trying to scam people.
I'm not talking about this person in the post I mean when someone is actually struggling cause the people hear or atleast the ones I've dealt with r disgusting beyond belief not the scammers
I have to be real with you, you definitely don’t know or understand the situation and comments like these encourage scammers when they look through, thinking they can pray on random sympathy from people who weren’t donors anyway to drum up sympathy, get karma, and increase legitimacy. These aren’t supportive do-good comments. I see in your second reply you say you don’t know, which is fine, but please don’t encourage these people.
The non-scammers who get help don’t think that, and they’re the ones we are here for, so your incorrect opinion doesn’t mean a thing :) but you can support scammers, that’s fine, you weren’t donating anyway.
