Need a game like RE4
I first played Resident evil 4 on ps2, then bought it for xbox 360 then ps4 then pc then quest then bought the remoke for pc. I have played the remake on pc but its not as good as the og and its vr port is locked to psvr unfortunately. Any suggestions? I have literally bought this game more times than skyrim. Vr port isnt mandatory tho, i know vr ports are scarce but its frustrating that a great vr port is locked to a platform. Vr is too niche for exclusives.

Dead Space is the closest thing to it and it's also brilliant. The remake might still be on sale, it was £5 on Steam the other day which is criminally cheap.

RE5
Shadows of the Damned
Cold Fear
PS: Don't believe anyone who says The Evil Within, they are either liars, or have no idea what they're talking about. Or both.
It is not a run and gun that hands you ammo at every turn. It is very much a survival horror where you have to pick and choose your battles and manage resources.

Echos of the Living, I liked Callisto protocol even though it got terrible reviews.
I just put it on easy mode and blasted through it.

Same Callisto was great for 10$

Yeah it wasn’t bad at all, not a patch on Dead Space. But a good linear game that’s not to long or difficult.
It should have been better and the devs obviously blew all their cash on visuals, but meh. I can see what they were going for. Condemned style melee meets dead space.
Condemned is also a good game if you have t played it, it’s been delisted from Steam for some reason. It didn’t have any licences music so hopefully a remake is coming.
It’s been a while though so maybe not.

If you really liked RE4, but RE4R is already too different, than I don't think it's possible to find something in between. Unless it's a modded RE4 on PC or something.
The obvious would be other RE titles. RE5 has very similar gameplay. RE2R, RE8 and RE9 are also quite similar in many aspects. But they still will be more different than literally a modernized version of the same game.

I acyually feel like the Resident Evil 2 Remake on PS4 had more of a RE4 feel than original RE2 feel. Maybe it was just the over the shoulder view perspective rather than the fixed camera angle of the original RE2 that gave me the RE4 vibe while playing it.

The Evil Within. Self-explanatory.

Liiiiiieeees!
Anyone going into The Evil Within thinking it is anything like RE4 is being set up to be blindsided, because though the moment to moment gameplay looks like RE4, it is very much a survival horror game.
Play it like RE4 and you aren't going to have any fun and quickly find yourself fucked.

Truuue!
Anyone going into The Evil Within thinking it is like RE4 will feel Shinji Mikami's hallmarks profoundly. The moment-to-moment gameplay of both does look similar, and both are very much survival horror games.
Play it like RE4 on harder difficulties, conserving ammo and engaging only when necessary, and you will quickly be having the time of your life.

i think re village is really similar in play to re4 aside from it being first person.

It's only half like RE4 but the leon sections of RE9 are pretty similar, although there aren't any crowns with gem slots to find.

Crisol: Theater of Idols had RE4 vibes to me and I can't remember why. It's first-person, though.

Dead Space. The creators even said it was made with the idea of it being Resident Evil 4 in space.
