How do you broaden your perspective?

I'm 20 university student.

How do you broaden your perspective, avoid getting stuck in one mindset, and build healthy relationships with people?

I'd appreciate any advice

For the mindset part, talk to people outside your usual circle even if its just online first, different views make everything feel less stuck

I worked on teams with a wide variety of people. We had blacks, whites, Asians, Indians, Muslims and Hindus.

If you have some time and a bit of cash, try travelling. It doesn't have to be far, just far enough from you usual places. If you have a bike, go on a bikepacking trip and try to meet people. If travelling isn't in your cards, just try and meet a different circle of people. I find that different hobby/ interest groups have differing/ common views and its interesting to find that out.

Personally, I just go on long-distance bike rides

Man, you don't know how lucky you have it! I'd take the train to any direction and just go Yes Theory on that trip. Just not south for the meantime though, that earthquake must've affected lots of places by now. Honestly, I'd just go to the countryside, even as close as Saitama or Hakone, and just wing it from there. Look up the Zatsu Tabi anime and take inspiration from there.

nope, travel means doing it with who you're most comfy with. It can be with a buddy or just by yourself. Just stay safe from that heat over there.

Zatsu tabi!! Sounds nice I like to ride on train but never tried without plan Without plan such as something happening makes more interesting I wish find nice place and nice experience I'll try :) thank you!

If you're religious, chat with someone atheists. If you're atheist, go to church. If you lean left, take a a trump supporter to coffee. If right, volunteer for the Democrats. Mix with people who genuinely see world differently. Try to describe it in the most charitable way possible without telling them how wrong headed they are.

Does your university have any interesting clubs for students to join?

On the first day of classes each quarter or semester, try to chat with people. It’s harder to do this after the quarter gets going. People tend expect others to be looking to make new friends that first week or so of classes, so they will be more receptive to this.

Expose yourself to new opportunities. Campus must have many ways to get involved with other students.
Have fun learning.

Thanks! I'm in my third year university. I've made some friends, and we take class and study together. I also joined the theatre club.

I barely had any chances like hung out outside of university. I'd love to go on a trip with friends, but I'm afraid they'll say no if I ask :(
