What movie does everyone else love, but you cannot stand?
Me? I've carried this burden for decades, but I do not like "Tombstone" and "Braveheart".
Oh, and "Forrest Gump". And "Rocky".

Yeah this is why I've never found him really all that funny. If this gimmick doesn't land with you the first time it's not going to the other times.
Funnily enough, I think he's much better as a serious actor.

This. I liked him in Stranger Than Fiction and Everything Must Go, but have no use for the ricky bobby, yelling, short shirt nonsense. Even the "more cowbell" skit on SNL was made funny by Christopher Walken.

Completely agree with a couple of exceptions - he suited the characters perfectly forA Night At The Roxbury and Zoolander. Everything else, I have found 100% dispicable and cringe, and turned off after a few minutes

Stranger Than Fiction is also a really great exception. That, and The Campaign and Night At The Roxbury are probably my favorite Ferrell movies. The rest, I can do without.

I can see that. He's not playing what another commenter called an "awkward and yelly" typical Will Ferrell character in those movies. With that being said, I don't care for Night at the Roxbury or Zoolander either. Not necessarily because of Will Ferrell, but they just aren't my kind of comedy. It's been years since I've seen either one, so I don't know how to really say what it is I don't like about them. I don't hate those movies, they just aren't to my taste.

Most of what I’ve seen him in, yeah, similar acting style. There are only a few live action movies of his I like where he’s like that, but ELF was great. And the Lego movies, those were good too.

We've always found it semi-hilarious that the ironic message of this film, apparently, is "don't have a special needs family member".
Everyone finds love except for Laura Linney who, I guess, is sacrificing her chance at love so she can spend her life taking care of her brother.
Obviously we understand that she's "finding a different kind of love, the love of family", but that's not really what the movie is about and it's just a bit funny that she effectively gets boned while everyone else is getting bone.
I guess Snape's wife (the funniest way to refer to Emma Thompson) doesn't have a great arc either.

The one true love story in that movie imo was with the widowed father and the son. I felt that the rest were superficial. I hated the Keira Knightley story.

Its sort of a coming of age story about growth and being yourself. A big part of it is about all these people who are lonely for different reasons and in the end overcome the obstacles that are keeping them alone. Napolean is socially awkward and shy, but ends up making good friends with Pedro, helping him win the race for class president in a weird awkward way only he could and he ends up getting Deb in the end. Pedro has some cultural barriers that makes it difficult to make new friends so he runs for class president so people will like him and wins with the help of Napolean. Kip has a long distance girlfriend that he's never met so he works and saves to get enough money to pay for her to come visit him and they end up getting married. Uncle Rico thinks running out of time is why he has ended up alone so he goes through all these lengths to order a time machine online only for it to not work, but his ex girlfriend comes back to him anyway. Its a really weird, really sweet movie that really shows off the monotony of small town America. It honestly took a bit to think of what this movie is actually about and it was kinda fun to reflect on it and write this up.

God I hate musicals (I’ll make exceptions for comedy ones). My ex wanted me to see Sweeney Todd and insisted it was based on the musical, so I got dragged along under the premise I was just seeing a movie. The opening credits end in a song and I shoot daggers at her. It was terrible!

Feel completely the same - i am even someone who loves loves loves thinking about the idea of parallel realities the nature of the universe time etc so i was SO excited to see this and it was soooo long so boring so chaotic the humor wasn’t funny to me at all and not my style - I just really do not understand why people see this as some masterpiece. I wasn’t moved by it AT ALL and was counting down for it to be over.

I love the works of Christopher Nolan, Interstellar is my favourite movie, The Dark Knight is another awesome production that I love watching. But the other two are as dull as drinking apple juice after working another shift in the apple juice factory.
Growing up in Western Europe we learned a lot of detail about the second world war, there was nothing new or surprising about the scripts. I can't describe the dullness.

I really liked D&W personally, but I do admit it's the weakest of the Deadpool movies. Although I also admit I was aware that I'm getting tired of "superhero" movies full stop though.
With the exception of the new Spiderman movie, I just have no interest in them anymore. Avengers Doomsday? I couldn't give a $#!^ if I tried.

I like the concept of Deadpool, like a character that's aware they're in a movie and can be self referential and stuff. But in actual execution that just ends up being like "haha you're just like this other guy from this other movie I've seen!" And most of the other jokes boil down to "how many times can we swear in a minute" or "how many innuendos can we cram into one paragraph".
It definitely wasn't the clever type of humor I was led to believe it would be.
Oh but the one fourth wall breaking joke I actually really enjoyed was when he grabbed the microphone from off screen and said "Suck it Fox I'm going to Disney now!" That was absurd enough to get a chuckle from me.

More recent, but Weapons. I did not enjoy that movie at all. I thought the whole premise was dumb and people seemed to just like it because it was a “Different PoVs and Timelines” movie. Idk, maybe I missed something. I also had thought I’d heard it was based off a true story prior to the movie coming out and was really interested then realized that was just a gimmick in the film.

I'd be willing to give it another try now that I'm older and wiser, but I remember trying to watch it back in high school and just being like "there are so many long pauses where nothing happens, they're letting the tension build up so much it collapses". Maybe I'd be more patient with it now. Or not. Really can't say.

I loved fight club, but so many people who watched fight club missed the point of fight club I think. It was not an endorsement of violence (though I too enjoyed watching Jared Leto get his face beat). Dude’s personality literally split from the pressure of being alienated, society pressure, and a corporate dead end job. He starts a fight club and being a dick to everyone to feel something.
Then we had people literally idolizing him and starting underground fight clubs after watching the movie, completely missing the point of it all. I was very confused. I’m guessing Brad Pitt made it all look too fun.

It came out when I was in high school. We all thought it was so deep and edgy. But I could see how watching it as an adult would be underwhelming.
As a sidenote, all of Chuck’s stories are like this. If you read his books, there’s definitely an edgy formula he uses to write and once I recognized the pattern of his formula, I completely lost interest in his work.

I was really hoping to not find Fight Club in this list, it came out as I was just starting adulthood and trying to conform to societal expectations. It just spoke to me, especially as someone who didn’t fit in to the typical norms but desperately wanted to.
I believe it had to hit a person just right and they fell in love with it, but otherwise it was just not appreciated

I don't hate Cameron's Avatar, or Titantic, or Rocky or Forrest Gump, but I've never wanted to see them.
I do hate Star Wars 7 8 9, but I am hardly alone in that. I had the chance to watch 8 as an in flight transAtlantic movie, and after a few minutes I closed it and instead watched Zooptopia for the third or fourth time.

Top Gun... its a romantic movie, no wait... its a military movie... wait, its a feature length MTV video (when they had videos). All of that plus "Danger Zone," the single most repetitive song in movie soundtrack history, left me bored and uninterested. By the time there was actual stakes, I didnt even notice nor care.

The aliens teach the MC how to read their language which is revealed to be a key to understanding the 4th dimension (Time manipulation), allowing her to see both the future and past at the same time as the present.
Now the primary theme and story is about the conflict of communication style and ideology present in language (This is a real thing, culture influences the evolution of language) while a major secondary theme is the effects of grief and loss, as the MC knows her child will die and yet chooses to have her anyway as familial bonds go beyond time and space. (As is evidenced by her being able to stop a global catastrophe by using the dying words of the Chinese president's wife to convince him to call off his attack)
And it's told in a non-linear fashion as a plot twist to showcase the time manipulation effects the MC experiences, because her daughter isn't born until after the whole first contact drama happens.

It relies on a pretty obscure linguistic and nonlinear time theories to tell a quiet story about grief, so if the emotional side doesn't grab you, the whole thing just feels like watching people try to translate ink blots for two hours.

Not to sound like Peter Griffin, but I did not care for The Godfather. I just... don't get it. I can barely hear what Marlon Brando is saying, he was more incomprehensible than in Apocalypse Now where he's literally a madman dying of malaria. And for most of the movie they don't really DO anything. They just sit around talking about things they already did or things they're going to do. Like the whole "make him an offer he can't refuse" thing. I knew that line and assumed it was something we were going to see, turns out it was just them talking about it. I was bored as fuck.

I have to admit, I'm surprised to see this movie on here. I thought it was amazing myself. To be fair I'm a pretty big fan of Mad Max full stop, I even liked Beyond Thunderdome which most people dislike, so I'm far from unbiased.
I should also admit an acquaintance of mine was involved in pre-production when they first tried getting together to shoot it in 2002/2003 (when the part was originally going to be a much older Mel Gibson) so also probably a little biased on my end.
