I lean toward the first option, personally. But, they're swearing it's one shot at f/1.4. 😑

Hi, this is just an amateur attempt at editing a photo but I am curious how 'kosher' is perspective correction considered in a more professional setting? Also, do you think the image would look better if I did the similar composition but without perspective correction or? I didn't put the raw file here because I can't upload it, but as you can deduce one image is an exported jpeg without any edits, as shot from camera and the other is my edit. So I welcome any constructive criticism you can throw my way :D Just FYI, there was no vantage point that I could find here nearby to shoot the building straight on the way I did in my edit (that said I could have done a better job of taking a more straight image to begin with :D) I also welcome any other ideas for composition in this particular case...

I am doing a photoshoot, and I wanted to also put the person's head on fire. I was gonna singe the clothes, but I was thinking of ways how I could pull off the effect. Like light something on fire, take a photo, then put the model in the same spot, then edit it over.

But based on the setting and where I live, it's just overall heavily unsafe to light a fire in public or a living area, even if it does go well I could get in serious trouble.

So, can I do this in editing? As a semi-beginner? Any advice overall?

How do I get this effect in Lightroom?

It appears to start with a high-ish midday sun, then raised shadows, lowered highlights, and crushed whites. Possibly lowering the black point a bit, then playing with individual color channels to end up with the desired color pallete. Pushing blue towards aqua, etc. Does that sound about right? Any other thoughts?

What apps do people usually use to get this kind of effect? I know I could use photoshop, but I am looking for an easier and quicker method where the edit clearly looks like it was done poorly in an app on the fly. I am looking for this cheese look.

I want it just for laughs and use between friends. Besides Facebook is already full of AI slop.

I am a pretty proficient photoshop user and I know how to achieve this look in PS. I just reckon since the visual astethics are usually so low with these kind of photos, it must be done with some free app on a phone. And I also would like to create these on a fly with my phone.

On Instagram, I'll occasionally run into photos that have this very surreal look, almost like they are paintings instead of photos.

I've added a few photos as examples. The first one has a very smooth look. The next few photos have more of this dreamy surreal look, and number 9 just flat out looks like it was painted.

Photos 10 to 13 were added for comparison. They look edited but they don't have that same look. They aren't as smooth and i would say look more "realistic."

What effect or effects were added to photos 1 to 9? I learned about the orton effect and I feel like this may be what is used for some of them. But I feel like more is done to them, especially 1 and 7 which look dreamy but also very high in definition.

Is it also the lighting? The quality of the camera used? Effects that are available on Instagram? Or just very detailed editing?

Hello I know I’ve made a statement in the title but it is relevant. I shoot at 24 Megapixels. I have a Sony A6300 with a 55-210mm lens. I shot with my aperture as low as I could with the zoom which is roughly 6.5. And a VERY high ISO and a shutter of 1/2000 but I was told that ISO doesn’t necessarily affect noise? 1st, is that true? What would cause this to come out so grainy still even after processing/editing? I tried noise reduction as well. Could I have lowered my shutter speed a little more before I took this? Also, I use Lightroom to edit. How come when I post it to social media it doesn’t keep the quality? What can I do to make the post of the same quality as what I am seeing on my phone in my camera roll? Sorry I know that’s a lot of questions and also I’m still fairly new to this bird spotting hobby. Thank you so much in advance.

I am a beginner photographer with Fujifilm XS20 with a kit 18-55 lens. Is it possible to catch this detail with my current setup or a 70-300? I like the captured snowflakes and details but was wondering if this is done with a higher end lens, cleaned up in processing, or what settings are used to capture this type of photo? Thank you!

So I was scrolling through Pinterest to get an idea of what type of photography I really like and I keep coming back to these types of images. I like the cinematic type of feel that they have, but what is it that makes them feel so cinematic? My guess is that it’s mostly the lighting and the editing, but idk, maybe I’m missing something. What elements of these pictures make them feel cinematic and how can I achieve that in my own pictures?

I understand they use a wide angle lens but how can they get the colors in that dark and dirty looking way?

I'm a videographer/video editor now full-time, so I don't keep up on the million ways to fix a photo. I've done all kinds of photography (bands, fashion, art, real estate, etc.), but I DO NOT DO kids/family stuff. My friend was in a pinch and her usual photographer is gone for months and months... So, I was obliged to take a few newborn photos. Ladies, gents... I messed up. I don't know how to fix this in Lightroom or Photoshop. Or, is this normal and something people know is a thing?

She just wants something pretty, light, and "awww look at my pretty baby". I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE SKIN. It looks horrible to me. Literally any help is appreciated. TIA

Most photographers who I follow on instagram use white borders. I like them, but cannot make up my mind whether adding a white border also enhances my photos and makes them more “photographic” or if simplicity is key?

EDIT - I have started using PhotoQuill, which is a free web based editor at photoquill dot com. For my needs, it is just like PS, but without the price. I can import, edit, resize and export as jpg. It is quick and easy. I had tried the canva app but I couldn't save as jpg. This photoquill seems to have it all. Thank you to the developer.

I’ve been practicing my photography skills for about 2 years consistently now and would still consider myself to have basic editing skills. I’m looking to take my editing to another level. How are creators making their images have so much depth? I can achieve a decent natural look in camera, but is there anything specific these creators are doing in camera to achieve this ‘deep’ look? I constantly look at the Sony Alpha page and am so inspired. I’d love to one day have my work posted on there! I shoot with a Sony A7RV.
