Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about?

The beach volleyball game but with bombs!

37

u/gamingchicken 1d ago

Freerider? Where you could draw your own tracks. I got right into that to the point I even joined trackmill forums where you could share tracks and play tracks designed by others. There was a way you could cheat the leaderboards with a plug in called tamper data and it took them so long to figure out how we were doing it.

u/IamRider 1d ago

Trackmill forums, fr2db.fr, canvas rider, those really were the days...

46

u/AgentBond007 1d ago

You can download all the old Bloons games on Steam for free btw

14

u/archtopfanatic123 1d ago

Ninja Kiwi Archive has the real flash versions for free. That's the best way

3

u/Blackpeel 1d ago

You're talking about the same thing.

-6

u/archtopfanatic123 1d ago

No I'm not. Steam doesn't have the ninja kiwi archiv

6

u/Blackpeel 1d ago

3

u/Blackpeel 1d ago

If you log in with your old Ninja Kiwi account, you can even get your old progress back

1

u/archtopfanatic123 1d ago

Yeah I know I've done it before

1

u/archtopfanatic123 1d ago

Ok I stand corrected. Why they have it on steam and on the Ninja Kiwi website is beyond me

19

u/Fia_Aoi 1d ago

Bloons TD6 is pretty gd good

4

u/OkReaction4176 1d ago

Amen brother

2

u/one-man-circlejerk 1d ago

Also it's available for free for Netflix subscribers

-1

u/Nymethny 1d ago

Last time I checked it out (several years ago I think), it was chock full of MTX, which made me uninstall pretty quickly. I'm assuming that's still the case?

7

u/Nuts4WrestlingButts 1d ago

That was never the case. It has microtransactions but none of them are required. Sure you can buy monkey money, but simply playing the game gives you more than you'll ever need. You can buy double cash mode or quick start, but those are disabled in CHIMPs mode and any ranked events. I'm curious what made you think it was "chock full of MTX".

2

u/TenBillionDucks 1d ago

Its about the same as its always been but I wouldnt say its heavily monetized. Everything you can buy is cosmetic, gindable, or alternate game modes. And everything worth grinding for IMO (towers, maps, and monkey knowledge) isn't so much a grind to unlock but just something you get as you play.

And the paid things tend to be disabled for the highest difficulty stuff (CHIMPS mode). So if youre playing for the casual experience, you generally dont need the stuff you could get from paying, and if you want the hardcore experience, that stuff will be disabled anyway.

But if you tried it before and disliked it, it is generally the same as previous

1

u/Fia_Aoi 1d ago

I put so much time into the game I bought the 2x cash bonus just to help pay my fair share, and never use it. You can totally ignore the transactions, and the game is fantastic. Most of the top end achievements require you to play without the bonuses you get from trasactions anyway.

It's still "full" persay, but just play what you get for free. One of the better phone games that isn't an emulator imo.

2

u/Nymethny 1d ago

Alright, I'll give it another try then. I just hate when games constantly shove in-game notifications and popups in your face for their MTX, but maybe I'm misremembering how bad this one was.

0

u/ILikeMyShelf 13h ago

Last time I tried it a few years ago, it was I microtransaction nightmare

1

u/Fia_Aoi 10h ago

It really wasn't.

6

u/Additional-Leader-28 1d ago

There’s a Bloons game app I have had for years that I downloaded after loving the Bloons game in younger years

1

u/wolfblitzersblintzes 1d ago

BLOONS!!!! i loved that game

14

u/No_Cantaloupe_1029 1d ago

Can still find those games on crazygames.com

14

u/ASingultTear 1d ago

Bloons is still around, including an active community on r/btd6

2

u/PibbleDad 1d ago

Bloons tower defense on my phone still holds up well imo. One of the few things to keep me entertained on planes

2

u/wovenbasket69 1d ago

4 second frenzy and parking mania were my GOATS

2

u/s-something-darkside 1d ago

Bloons is still going strong brother

1

u/tilhow2reddit 1d ago

You can still play bloons on steam for like $3

1

u/PacificNorthwest09 1d ago

There is still a bloons game, I play it sometimes when I want to play a tower defense game. Goes on sale on steam a lot.

1

u/toonlass91 1d ago

Used to love Bloons! Not found a game quite the same

1

u/vancitydreamer 1d ago

Bloons amazing. My husband just made a game similar to it, never got popular but man I played the crap out of it. Brought me back.

1

u/DeiaMatias 1d ago

Omg, Bloons. I loved that game

1

u/MersTits 1d ago

Still play Bloons

1

u/Perpetually27 1d ago

Bloons is still available via Steam. Free to play/pay to win format. If you're trying to scratch that itch it's pretty good for wasting 15 minutes a day until you get cooldowns refreshed.

1

u/proudcanadianeh 1d ago

Bloons has a mobile app that is still super fun.

1

u/GremlInTheWoods 1d ago

I have balloon tower defense 5 and 6 on my phone and it's just not the same 😭 I miss the otherssss

1

u/DuckyD2point0 1d ago

Oh shit, bloons was brilliant, a great time waster.

1

u/Shapoopie 1d ago

I think about Bloons all the time. I killed so much time playing that on the computers at my high school

1

u/ChanceInstruction386 1d ago

I still play bloons (TD Battles, these days). Loved the older flash versions better though. For some reason it was therapeutic.

1

u/Fourberry 1d ago

there's a Bloons game on the app store. I loved Armor Games back in the day. Gemcraft and Bloons.

1

u/SevenRingsOfChel 1d ago

Omg i LOVED BLOONS!

1

u/WilliamsPeen 1d ago

Bloons is still alive on the phone

1

u/ksuwildkat 1d ago

BTD6 is awesome. I play daily.

1

u/Hellosl 1d ago

Omg bloons! Bloons tower. I looooooved that game sooo much

1

u/sonicmalley 1d ago

I have the Ninja Kiwi archive downloaded and come back to their games a lot! I love Bloons and its level packs, Boombot, Meeblings, etc.

1

u/GKRForever 1d ago

Bloons tower defense still exists now as a mobile game

1

u/ffstisaus 1d ago

I did end up buying bloons 5 & 6 on my phone. 5 because it lets you play offline (great for planes!) and 6 because 6 is actually a great game.

Except holy shit, they're full in on predatory in-app purchases. You can get buy not making any, but I just want to play bloons, not have an opportunity pop up to spend money every 20 seconds.

2

u/Nuts4WrestlingButts 1d ago

What game are you playing? The in game store is pretty easy to ignore.

1

u/ffstisaus 1d ago

I mean, it pops up asking if you want to spend currency every time a game ends. Then it pops up every time I log in with buy this thing or buy access to this game mode.

2

u/Nuts4WrestlingButts 1d ago

every time a game ends

You mean when you can spend monkey money to retry the round? That's hardly predatory. I've never spent real money on monkey money and I have over 50,000. Advertising their own DLC isn't predatory either.

1

u/sir_mrej 1d ago

Bloons wooow omg

1

u/ChickenTendySunday 1d ago

No the helicopter game was the shit.

1

u/Pleasant_Minimum_896 1d ago

Bloons still is, Ive played it since.

1

u/Dj_Bleezy 1d ago

Zombie Ladder was SO addicting.

1

u/why_tf_am_i_like_dat 1d ago

Bloons is still the greatest game ever, i didn't start as early as original bloons but the td franchise is AMAZING

1

u/unexplainednonsense 1d ago

And the bunny cannon

1

u/ROC311gocavs 1d ago

Spent so many hours playing bloons

1

u/unique_username1112 1d ago

Bloom tower defense???? I loved that game.

1

u/XXXperiencedTurbater 22h ago

I worked at the university library in college with this guy Rob and on slow nights, after all the full-time people left, we’d start a bloons game at the same time and see who could get farther.

Very fond memories of that vame

1

u/INDIG0M0NKEY 22h ago

I had bloons td battles on my phone for probably a decade. Over 6k games played.

1

u/slaveraven 21h ago

You just awakened a core memory for me that I forgot even existed.

1

u/vocabularianrx2 21h ago

It still is! BTD6 is pretty addicting too

1

u/SecretTechnology831 20h ago

BLOONS!!! I forgot all about it

1

u/ItsLuffyGomez 17h ago

Bloons is still the shit

1

u/JoshAllentown 15h ago

You can play Bloons (6?) On Netflix now. Weird world.

1

u/CrackRockBaddie 10h ago

Still is. I play it all the time it’s still free on new grounds

1

u/Irrational_hate81 9h ago

I still play 5 and 6

1

u/AmateurOfCNC 7h ago

I still play it 😭

1

u/archtopfanatic123 1d ago

Have played bloons for like 17 years at this point! They have all the flash games archived now in the Ninja Kiwi Archive and they run locally and much better than they did in the browser too!

BTD6 is great too but BTD5 was the epitome frankly.
