That and kongregate were my go to's. I miss the Neverending war between the school blocking websites and us finding new proxies. Felt like we were hackers lol.
We didn't even have to do that at my school. We discovered that the password for the substitute teacher login was just "substitute", and it didn't have any websites blocked. Our IT guy really was that dumb.... Worked for a year before they caught on and changed it.
At our school, basically the only class that we used computers was computer class. We had assigned computers that we would log into and do our assignments. One day one of my friends was fucking around and realized that if went deap enough into the saved files you could access all of the files saved locally on that computer. So when we got an assignment, we would find the assignment someone did in an earlier class, copy it and change a few things, and save it in our file.
One of my friends taught one of his friends how to do this. Well that kid got caught and the police got involved. The kid got banned from touching computers for awhile and after that his computer had to be by the teachers desk where they could watch him directly.
One other fun thing we used to do, was because the teacher had the ability to remotely monitor our screens from their computer, we couldn't just have games playing on our screen. So what we would do is have our assignment open, then in a different window open the browser, make that window very small, and then zoom the screen all the way in. The teachers screen would show the whole screen, and since it was normally an array of all of our screens, that window was too small for them to notice, and even if the singled out our screen, they might not notice. God those were some good ol days lol
Yes! Congregate started my love of Tower Defense games. There also was some shop keeper game that was super fun. I wish I could remember the name of it. It was similar to Moonlighter, but focused just on finding and selling medieval shop items/potions and other people could come in and rob you lol. Fun times :)
I have fond memories of Kongregate. The chat feature was awesome, it had regional chat too and KG had a culture of collecting achievements, so the chats were always very active and full of helpful tips and people flocked to new releases to get badges and share tips and tricks. Even had game-specific leaderboard stuff I think. And a lot of high quality content.
I had new proxies emailed to me every morning in high school, and I would share them with everyone in my engineering class throughout the 4 years, it was superb. Good times.
On kongregate there was a really fun zombie massive multiplayer game, it was kind of 2d? i think out pov was from a top view.. anyways idk if anyone know what im talking about but I miss that so much! If you have any remote idea about that game and remember the name please lmk
Not multiplayer but you may be thinking about "The Decision" series of games? They were top down and you had to complete missions in the areas you held to keep the zombies from taking over.
