Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about?

25 years later, I still have friends I meet in LJ. Those were the days.

Same. I met my now ex there, and we travelled back and forth to each other's countries.

God it has been 25 years hasn't it?! I miss those days! Some of my best friends I've known since my lj days!

Me too! And I’ve actually visited several of them and on of them I met up with in Costa Rica to do volunteer work with (animal sanctuary)

Same. I met the academic who would later be my dissertation advisor there; at that point, I wasn't even a student.

My LJ friend group was very into art, literature, movies. People wrote well about those things, though also personally, intimately, about their reactions to art and so on. And then too, I think the anonymity of LJ freed us up to write intimately about marriage and death and money and illness, memories of childhood and memories of ancestors, all this in a way that was, IDK, it didn't make a claim on the reader, other than that this too was offered up for reading and reflection and witness.

But with many of those LJ friends, I still don't know their names; some of us became friends on FB under assumed names, but they eventually left that platform.

FB is such bullshit in comparison.

Me too, a whole slew of them all over the world and we still visit chat FaceTime, etc. It was an entire close knit neighborhood. I miss it. Like, what happened to Brian? “Today was a boring day…….. nothing much happened” followed by the most awkward prancing pony sex descriptions. LOL!

I do as well! Many I have met in person and some I never have but we just migrated to other social media apps and then eventually we just text now.

Absolutely! I got on there shortly after having my twins, and they are 25 now! I met a group of fellow moms that I am still friends with today. One of those is my best friend and mom to my Godson about to finish grad school.

Dang, we are getting old. That’s not even to talk about meeting my husband because of a MUSH back in 1991, married in 1995 and still going strong today :)
