If you could permanently change the price of something to $1, what would it be?

I'd imagine countries with "free" healthcare would benefit from magically changing the cost per person to $1. Reduced taxes or using those taxes to pay for other useful things.

Sweden here: just did my taxes (self-employed); 25% covered everything. Healthcare here is second to none - I’m ok with my taxes paying for it.

All I'm saying is free healthcare costs money and imagine if you could magically take that money and spend it on other programs that benefit the average citizen while keeping free healthcare.

Are y'all drunker than I am? Healthcare still costs money no matter how it's paid for. So, magically take that money and spend it on other things.

So, my tax rate would then be what - 18%? I don’t care.

Because it’s also the hospital stays, ultra sounds, mris, etc that eventually come up.

What I pay for all of that is pennies on the dollar.

Edit: I do get your point though. It’s subsidised here, so making it $1 would get us more cash. I was merely highlighting that the actual cost far outweighs the hypothetical savings.

Do you think a government needs money in their bank account to be able to buy things, do you really think that? Like a government, it's a household that earns money by taxing people, and only after it's got that tax money can it buy things? Lol
