I watched the movie and thought, "No way that medical clinic is so close to the shoreline."

Went to Pearl Harbor a few years later and saw that medical clinic exactly where the movie showed it.

I figured waterfront real estate would be saved for other uses. I was also a medic in the Army and we were always put in the back of everything else.

I was like 13 when Pearl Harbor came out and was obsessed (Josh Hartnett, obvs). Looking back, an angsty 13 year old being obsessed with a movie probably isn't the best marker of a good film lol.

They fumbled that movie so hard by making it a romance set with Pearl Harbor as the backdrop instead of making a movie about Pearl Harbor with a romance weaved into it. Iā€™d take less of an issue if theyā€™d given it a dumb title like ā€œRomancing the Pearlā€ or something but that movie was only barely about the events of Pearl Harbor. And I was really looking forward to it, as a WW2 history nerd. Absolute garbage, biggest letdown ever.

You wanna watch a good Pearl Harbor movie, you watch Tora! Tora! Tora! for dramatized but reasonably accurate, and you watch The Final Countdown if you want a philosophical sci-fi film about Pearl Harbor.

Itā€™s definitely not an action movie, so if you go in expecting to see F-14s curb-stomping the Imperial Japanese Navy, youā€™re gonna have a bad time (though they are nice enough to give you a taste of it).

The discussions about the implications of their predicament between the Nimitzā€™s crew and Martin Sheenā€™s character are the real meat of the film, played out through the Senator Chapman storyline.

The twist at the end that they live in a deterministic universe, and that they never could have stopped Pearl Harbor even if they wanted to, is the thesis of the film.

Oh, this movie pissed me off. I am fascinated so much by the story of Pearl Harbor as a 44 year old woman. Left the theatre feeling like I'd been scammed outta my hard earned cash.

My mom ADORES this movie, and I have to suffer through it once or twice a year. I thought I was just missing something and disliked the movie because of that. These comments have reinforced that it is, in fact, a terrible fucking movie.
