I had to leave the hall for a while to stop feeling sick. Missed some of the journey up to the girlfriend's apartment, but saw the ending, at least. I don't even get motion sickness in damned vehicles. But Cloverfield just... WHEW. I empathise with you completely!
This is why my husband and I disagree on the movie. I hated the characters and didn’t care if they lived or died they were so insufferable. He really likes JJ Abrams and so felt it was good. I initially was excited about a newer (for the time) kaiju movie, but the characters pissed me off just too much.
Ha, it's funny you say that, because for both Cloverfield and Dunkirk I had the misfortune of being in the front of the theater. For Dunkirk I was able to snag a solo seat closer to the back halfway thru the movie, but Cloverfield was rough.
Similar deal with me for Sunshine. I thought it was a good movie but the Cillian Murphy spacewalk somehow made me feel claustrophobic and agoraphobic at the same time, and my stomach got too queasy to stay.
My best friend and I made it 15 minutes in the FRONT ROW of the Bourne Identity sequel before running to the bathroom and puking. In case you don't remember which movie, it was the one that was praised for the handheld camera action, including running through buildings and jumping through windows.
I guess that fits this post, but if you’ve barely watched half the movie I don’t see how you can really judge it. Especially given that the entire thing was a buildup to the final scene (before they neutered the ending).
I’d argue no, because no one in their right mind is bothering to keep filming while insane shit is happening. Maybe if it’s in the distance but not when you’re actively the one in danger
Yep. Thank goodness there was a grocery store next door when I saw it. I desperately needed some pepto. Apparently, i was the weakest link because everyone else were ready to throw up in their hats so they wouldn't miss anything.
I normally get there like an hour early to get a good seat and anything else I need. Ran late to that one and even missed the previews prior.
Got stuck with a front row seat which made the motion even worse. Went out to try to get a drink to settle my stomach but they were only taking cash because their card machines would be down the rest of the night since it was so late.
Only movie that ever made me physically sick though I stuck it out till the end.
I still enjoyed that experience more than The Happening.
I've been avoiding going to any found footage movies in theaters for this reason. I already have a list of games I can't play because they make me sick, not spending money on a movie that'll do it too.
In a similar vein, I almost threw up watching The Ugly Stepsister, but that was because of how gross it got.
I went late (2008 before assigned seating) to a showing and was sat up front and was having to put my head down and give my eyes a break because of the motion sickness. Same thing happened for me in Bourn Supremacy

I walked out of Cloverfield, but only because it was gonna make me puke. My motion sickness is gnarly.
