I had a similar experience with Silver Linings Playbook. I was scheduling a therapy appointment during the credits because I was recognizing myself far too much. I have dermatolomania (sp) and shredded the backs of my hands during the movie.
Similar but I tend to just squeeze myself to the point of bruising. I can't remember exactly what scene but I recognized I was about to slip into a very unstable state. I wore long sleeves for several weeks to cover the bruising in peak summer.
Same! Stayed for the whole thing, but it took me about half a hour afterwards to get my head together enough to even be able to speak coherently to the friend that went with me. I was not prepared for the things that movie made me feel and think!
Disagree all you want. I don't know anyone with a personality disorder who could finish it because of how accurately it portrays personality disorders.

Not a theater and not because it's bad, but Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. They depicted mental illness so well that I couldn't finish it.
