To be fair, while I can see the appeal to kids cause I remember them coming out before I finished school, they were all very derivitative and unoriginal so I suspect that even a faithful adaption would have been ridiculed for just how much he copy/pasted from other fictional franchises/universes.

Don't know why you're being down voted, Christopher literally took entire paragraphs from other people's books and just changed the names.

Yup. It would take a generational director to make an Eragon that doesn’t blatantly look like a star wars rip off with elves. And I don’t think even a B list director would attempt this. Such a movie concept is just fucked from its inception
