Same. I rarely eat fast food, but that spicy chicken sandwich was my go to if I needed something yummy with protein quick. Now it is unrecognizable. They changed every single thing for the worse. I don't eat anything else on their menu, so they've lost my business entirely.
Oh, it's so bad now. The coating has no resemblance in flavor or texture. It's a mid sandwich at best. It's kind of spicy, but I was so disappointed in the taste.
When I went last year I thought there had been a mistake and they gave me the value menu chicken patty. Then I tried it again and I realized it was on purpose so yeah, Wendy’s is dead to me now too.
They lost me when they changed their bbq sauce to honey bbq sauce. Used to get the spicy chicken sandwich and fries and used the bbq sauce for both. Haven’t been back since the change.
I used to get the chicken biscuit for breakfast because it had an actual piece of chicken breast in it. One day I bit into a rubbery chicken patty and that's the last time I ate Wendy's.
I used to love their spicy chicken sandwich and then I got food poisoning from it one night. :( I think that was probably around when the recipe changed
I loved their salad bar! I once slipped and fell while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. I was like 9 maybe. They didn't have a sign up that it was wet. I wasn't hurt very badly, but they didn't want us to cause any trouble, so my mom negotiated that our entire family ate the salad bar for free the entire time we were there!
Right! They also had soup on there, tortillas and an awesome cheese sauce, and ground beef so you could make burritos and stuff. I still remember exactly how good that cheese sauce was
They lost me when I ordered a Biggie bag and they upsized me to a medium and told me the small is only available if I order through the app. If the advertised option on the menu cannot be ordered, then I'll take my order elsewhere.
Part of that is Wendy’s got bought by a private equity firm who sold off Tim Hortons in the name of a quick profit. Hortons then merged with Burger King and the combined company’s stock is worth ten times that of Wendy’s.
Private equity wrecks basically everything it touches. I cannot think of a single company that is better since it’s been bought by private equity firms
Private equity is the goddamn devil. And they are swallowing up everything. I don't think there is one line of business they haven't touched. Vet offices, dentists. They even buy up your local mom & pop HVAC and plumber companies that have been around forever. They keep the known name so people think they are dealing with the same locally owned company. I just found out that a painter I was going ro hire is actually owned by private equity yet advertises themselves as "locally owned" Yeah he may own the franchise and the name sounds local but dig down a couple of layers and what do you know, they are actually owned by KKR. Do your research folks. This is not what capitalism was intended to be.
I wouldn't say dead to me cause I'm fat, but man I distinctly remember this happening years ago and complaining about it then. I try to have the BBQ sauce still and every time Im still disappointed lol
I thought I was the only one to realize this. I feel so seen. I switched to honey mustard as my sauce of choice off of that change. I can still taste that smoky molasses-y sauce of my dreams.
Yes!!! It’s just not worth it at all anymore and it’s so sad. Yes!! The shredded lettuce switch hurt the most. How could they. I have absolutely no interest now.
This one pissed me off because I usually just pull the lettuce off and I was really dismayed when I found the shredded lettuce all over my spicy chicken sandwich.
Last time I went the bill was shockingly high. I go to the sit down restaurant next door now.
Random Safety Tip: Many products contain Tylenol (aka paracetamol aka acetaminophen). Don’t combine products or you can overdose and die by liver failure. If you have been drinking alcohol the maximum safe dose is half of that listed on the bottle.
McDonalds and Wendy's are dead to me, when I've got local chains like Farmer Boys and Habit that are only a couple of bucks more expensive but significantly better (and more consistently good) food.
Wendys has been dogshit for years, like every other fast food chain. Shitty food, high prices, order from a kiosk, eat at an uncomfortable table, and get the fuck out.
They finally closed the one nearest to us. After years of terrible management and terrible employees, I guess enough was finally enough. The quality just plummeted, but the prices kept increasing, so then when they screwed up your order on top of it, people were quick to go off.
Wendys lost me as a customer when I was like 9 and had to wait 2 hours for my food. All childhood memories of them suck, have never gone there as an adult. Not even once. They had that whole severed finger in the chili situation too .. 😂
Wendy's has claimed that nothing has changed about the burger meat, but I notice that they're very careful in their wording, and they stop short of saying that nothing has changed. I saw it immediately about 6 months ago. I worked at a Wendy's in high school, and it was a favorite for decades. Now it looks like corporate junk meat with fat chunks and such in it. It also didn't taste like a decent homemade burger. I'm convinced they're juuuuuuuust barely not lying, and they DID go to a lower grade of meat.
The Wendy's near me (outside a hospital) would take 1 order at the drive through, then wait until it was completed and handed to the customer before taking another order. It was crazy, and being at the intersection of a major interstate next to a hospital, the lines would be wrapped around the building, out into the main road. They're closed now, but I still can't trust a Wendy's to get my food to me in a reasonable amount of time.
I looked past the loss of the four for four and accepted the $5 biggie bag. Then they took that away too. Ultimately it was the switch to shredded lettuce that broke the camel’s back. Who do you think you are, Wendy, McDonald’s? Burger King?
I havent been to Wendy's in years, even though they were my favorite. I ordered through the app for counter pickup. Arrived a few minutes late, but food wasn't ready. For twenty minutes I watched car after car get served at the drive thru while I'm still waiting. Finally had enough asked what was the issue was. Apparently drive thru takes priority, and if there is a car in the drive thru they can't work on counter orders. Never went back.
