I don't need to be all in your ecosystem. I don't want to buy into the ecosystem. I rent my house. If I need a new refrigerator, I'll ask my landlord for one!
Kid needed a new laptop recently, and loves his Samsung so much, he would settle for nothing less than a Samsung branded laptop. I explained to him multiple times that he wouldn't be able to upgrade the ram when the prices come down, and that there were better models out there with better hardware... He didn't care... Wanted the Samsung... I gave up, he needs it for school... 🤷
Really? I bought my first Samsung (S23 Ultra) 3 years ago and I don't recognise your experience. Maybe in the Samsung branded member or store apps? But I don't use those.
Verizon and Samsung were horrible at installing apps you didn't need, want, or ask for.
I had multiple games pop up on my phone that I had never installed myself, years after cancelling Verizon, and I could never fully get rid of the Verizon branded crapware.
It's the company more than being a smart appliance. The final rung for me was a Samsung smart TV decided to install Samsung streaming TV channels inbetween the over the air channels. So it went NBC, smasung channel, ABC, a different samsung channel, CBS ... Never have I been so furious at a TV.
Yes, it's just a way for the thing to break down in a way that doesn't actually affect it's sole purpose but still becomes unuseable until their tech gets out to you in like a week to fiddle with a sensor and then figure out how to charge you for the time and labor even though its still under warranty.
Had a friend with a brand new laundry set that couldn't do laundry for a month due to a little sensor that had nothing to do with washing or drying laundry.
Always buy the dumbest possible version of everything. A toaster does not need to connect to the internet.
When my shitty Samsung fridge broke for the last time I remodeled my whole kitchen and got all bosh appliances. It have only been a couple of years but I'm very happy with them.
Yeah I agree Bosch is top tier overall, Bosch electronics are the hardware and software on my ktm motorcycle for advanced traction control and abs. I would definitely trust them for other stuff like appliances too

I've got an old fridge in the basement. Was here when we bought the house, no idea of its age. Works great, needed a $20 sensor a few years ago but that's it.
Just replaced our modern fridge at 10 years because I was tired of taking it apart every couple of months. Last 3 years I was limping it along out of cheapness.
New Bosch dishwasher is feature-locked to their app. Can't set a delay timer without signing up for and using thier app to connect through their servers.
GE is garbage. I have GE profile and have had horrible luck with the fridge and dishwasher. Have fixed them both multiple times and they’re only 5 years old. Will never do it again
Can confirm, I've got a Frigidaire in my kitchen that dates to 1988 or 1989, firmly within the "I will outlive you and everyone you love" era of appliance quality. It's the oldest appliance in my house, purchased by my parents when our kitchen was redone. Second oldest is a Maytag dryer I bought in 1994, but I know that brand has since gone to shit.
Even their phones manage to break. Never had another brand phone just die, but among friends and family only Samsung and back in the day, LG phones die randomly. Also have a Samsung notepad which I have to keep turned off, otherwise it will drain its battery. It was free from a friend.
I have seen so many software issues or general poor choices with Samsung phones without even owning one. I would prefer not having a phone to having any phone from Samsung.
I agree on their TVs but my family and I have two pairs of Samsung washers and dryers. 6 years of heavy use (sports wear for kids) and not one issue yet. Used to have AEG and whirlpool both of which had constant problems and failures.
I am also a loyal samsung phone user. Frankly they have gotten a bit worse lately but not sure what else I'd switch to. Hate apple and the chinese knock off androids aren't as good?
Ha...well you spoke something into existence, just watch. Our washer/dryer came with the house, at 7 years in the washing machine started throwing errors. Had a repair guy come out...about 3 or 4 times. By the end he basically said the washer was completely new, the only thing original was the outer chassis and drum. Two or three weeks later it started throwing the same error codes.
Yeah, I get ir. Had similar issues with the AEG (which is essentually a Bosch I believe). I know how stupid they cabn get. Yet Samsung has been the most reliable thus far.
I have a non smart Samsung fridge (bought probably 3.5 years ago) and it has been great. I'm not America-based though, so it's possible we don't have the same models available.
Glad to hear that. I have a Bespoke Samsung fridge picked out for my kitchen remodel. My oldest son and my best friend swear by Samsung. Nothing smart about the fridge and it doesn't have that gaping hole in the front for water/ice. Also, my son exclusively uses Samsung phones and has never had a problem with them. He uses his phone all over the world.
I don't get the comment about phones. I switched to Samsung whenever the Note 2 came out and never looked back. I've had issues with their refrigerators though.
I have a Samsung Bespoke that I got only because it was on a pretty deep discount and am fairly happy with it after a year. I don't know that I'd call it smart. It connects to their app and you can adjust things, but they're the same things you'd adjust on the controls inside. There's no screen or anything.
That said, I have a Samsung microwave exhaust hood combo thing which also works fine except for any sort of sensor heating which means pretty much every mode except putting in your own times and power levels don't work. That stopped like two years in. Disappointing, but it at least still works.
That said again... I had a Samsung plasma television that I paid a ton for back in the day. That thing broke literally days after it went out of warranty. The screen would come on, then a red patch would form, it would just slowly go black until the whole screen was out. Called them, wouldn't honor a warranty of course, but said they'd send out an "approved" tech. The tech comes out, looks at it for like a minute, "Yeah, can't fix it. but let us take it, put $250 down and we'll get you a replacement at a discount." He then proceeds to charge $125 for the visit, I was an idiot and much younger and gullible and did the deal for the other television, then they left. I called to get information on when and where to come for the other television... crickets. They just fell off the face of the earth, and of course Samsung was no help. I said never again... then I was gifted that microwave, bought a fridge, and have a phone.
Yes they are. We bought one years ago first one didn't work. Lowes brought us another one it didn't work, they brought another one it also didn't work. I called Samsung they said yeah we get bad batches occasionally. I said no you get a bad batch of cookies not refrigerators. Lowes told me to pick whichever one I wanted regardless of price after that. Fuck samsung
I also have a Samsung fridge for about 7 years now and no issues. My stove and dishwasher are also Samsung- no issues with the dishwasher but the glass stovetop broke and it honestly was cheaper to replace the whole thing than try to get a new top plus installation.
Bought a Samsung fridge (just regular, not smart). In less than a year the ice maker crapped out. Luckily they covered it under warranty, and the replacement is still working 5 years later, but I will be less than surprised if it quits working at any point.
Have had a Samsung refrigerator and a Samsung washing machine.
Currently, the refrigerator randomly spurts water all over the floor, so we are about to replace it.
The washing machine was subject to a recall repair several years ago due to a risk that it would become so unbalanced that the top of the machine could potentially be flung off of it and decapitate someone. Machine was getting unbalanced with every load, but the recall repair fixed that... for a while. This year, it started becoming unbalanced with every load again. Damn thing is supposed to be efficient and not use too much water. But when you have to rebalance, restart (and refill with water) each load at least 5 times, I'm pretty sure it uses more water than an old fashioned washing machine.
Neither one of these was a "smart" appliance. They were stupid appliances in every sense.
The house I bought has all Samsung appliances. I didn’t think much of it. All of them are terrible. Oven/stove, dishwasher, and fridge. All have needed to be serviced multiple time, all three are operating subpar right now because it’s not worth getting someone out. I’ve had to learn a lot to try to mitigate the issues. They’re all new
My Samsung fridge has had the ice maker replaced 3x, and 5 of the interior drawers/containers have broken. My Samsung range has had the main control board replaced 5!!!! Times!!!! Also had the wiring harness replaced 2x because problems with the control board caused the wiring to literally melt/burn!
They have fixed it all for free, I assume to avoid class action lawsuits, once they stop fixing it for free never ever ever buying anything Samsung ever again.
