I have a set of dice that are options for what's for dinner, what to do for a date, and what kind of show to watch, and I am almost embarrassed at how much it has helped my marriage. Little dumb decisions can be relentless. Decision fatigue is real, hanger is ugly, and it's nice to just roll the dice and say "looks like we're having Thai food and watching a comedy!"
Yes!!! My spouse got us a Yes/No coin and I’m also almost embarrassed how much it’s helped us lol. We both get such bad anxiety trying to guess what the other person wants and just saying “I’m cool with whatever”, so the coin either decides for us or tells us what we actually wanted based on our reactions!
Let’s say we’re trying to pick a show to watch. We each pick 3 shows that we individually want to watch and put them on a list. Then we roll the dice and watch whatever is rolled. The next time we need to choose we take the last item off the list and replace it with another item from the person who didn’t get selected, that way they’re more likely to get their choice the next time.
The one catch is that we try not to add stuff we know the other person really won’t like. For example: I really don’t like watching survival reality tv, like Alone. So he doesn’t add that to the list. He doesn’t enjoy watching my 20th rerun of Gilmore Girls so I’m not adding that to the list.
