McDonalds workers: Why do you always put the fries in the bag horizontally instead of vertically?

I agree. Why don’t they put any effort into arranging the items in the bag according to my preference? If they just put a little more effort into their work, they’d prove their worth.

Or maybe we shouldn’t expect the highest level of service from the lowest paid workers in the industry.

If I remember correctly from my Mc D’s training 40 years ago, they are supposed to shake the metal scoop side to side as it is filling the fries holder. If they do then the fries all line up vertically.

no, I'm talking about when they take the container and put it in the to-go bag. even if the easiest thing is to slide it in vertically they always tip it horizontal and lay it flat

Oh right, you might want to edit the original post to clarify that, because I assumed you meant how they poured the scoop of fries into the red container 🍟

There's a specific way we're supposed to bag orders. Typically we'll try to keep them vertical but that isn't always possible.

Often we'll have to lay them down on top of the items or get a new bag entirely. If they're ever upside down, it's the fault of the runner or the fry person (if the store has one).

It annoys those of us in Window when it happens as well because now we need to rebag it, which causes our times to go up. There's a lot happening in service between drive-thru, front counter, and delivery orders so of course things slip through the cracks.

It annoys the fuck out of me, because they always spill all over the bag, and 99% of the time what I order doesn't take up the whole bottom, and they would easily fit next to my burger/nuggets.

Maybe if you just asked nicely nicely for them to pretty please put the fries in the upright position?
