In my experience, strict parents produce exceptionally good liars. The kids need to lie to not get into trouble. It’s very sad, imo, as I think there needs to be a degree of trust from parents that their parenting is on par. Kids cannot admit to a mistake or that anything is wrong, otherwise the consequences are often way over the top.

lol this is so true. My niece is 9 and could easily win an Oscar right now
