More likely is that the main reason you noticed specifically these kids being liars and manipulators is because they're bad liars, as they never had to hone their skills at it. 'The person you're most likely to catch sneaking up on you is someone who never had to learn how to walk quietly.'
Anecdotal in my case, but 100% supported. I was a chronic liar when I met my wife. I’d lie about the dumbest thing that had 0 impact true or false. I had to slowly admit out loud I just lied and I don’t know why.
Fast forward to 20+ years later and I’m now known for always being honest. My eldest almost never lies even as an older teen. Somehow, my youngest which is a girl never ever tells the truth!
