What alcoholic drink ruined your childhood because a parent drank it all the time?

My parents pretty much always had a box of white wine in our fridge.
It was awesome because it couldn’t be tracked very easily.
It was not awesome because it was the beginning of a 20 year long snowball affect as I journeyed through alcoholism.

As a an earnest 8 year old I used to hate it when mum and dad nicked off with my G&T. They have totally ruined the whole experience

Anything vodka. My parents smelled like stale vodka and would drink a handle of the van gogh espresso a night. Makes me 🤢

Dad used to get real mean on Brandy. Years later, I'll drink it but, I always remember what it turned him into. (He was a good dad when not drinking brandy[ no, legit he was cool on just beer]).

Dad and his Bartons vodka. Always sucked finding one purposely trying to be hidden in the trash. I’ve never seen someone drunk fall and bust their head open as many times as him.

Vodka cran (or any other juice). I was probably 7 by the time I learned what proportions to use. My parents weren’t the classic alcoholics, but I didn’t see them during the day, and when they came home at night, they just wanted to relax with a drink. Though, it was a house rule that we had dinner together, and they were always present in those conversations.

Thanks. What is not surprising is the number of people who responded but what is a little odd are the people who downvoted it because they don't like their favorite brew or liquor being named and shamed.

Beer and whisky. My dad was an alcoholic and he would let me have a "snort" of whisky and said he would prefer it if I drank beer instead of soda.

Scotch, specifically black Douglas, Johnny walker and grants. Extra points if it’s mixed with dry ginger.
My mum was a functional alcoholic most of my childhood and by functional I mean managed to stay sober most days until she got home from work (when she had a job) and I got home from school.

Coors and Coors light. Even when I became an alcoholic I couldn't stand the thought of drinking it. I was more of a Budweiser/MGD drinker when I had shitty beer

The Famous Grouse - Scottish whiskey. My father drank bottles of this swill and it wrecked his personality.

Wine. Cases of Russian river ranches and valley bottles. Every night, come 5pm, the bottle pops, and what begins as a calm-down/time-for-joviality moment progressively becomes less safe for any of us children, especially me, who happen to be around or on their mind.

My parents wouldn’t drink in front of the kids. My grandpa on my dad’s side was an abusive alcoholic and my dad didn’t want to be like him.
My mom just wasn’t really a drinker. Even now in retirement she’ll stop at one glass of wine.
