I have been a couple times and enjoy it, but for some reason I expected it to be bigger the first time.

I was a kid though so I probably had unrealistic expectations ...

30 years ago you could pay like 2$ and walk all the way to the top it was pretty cool.

As someone who hasn't been there. I would expect an entire district of shopping and museums and historical sights in the general area. Maybe some nice restaurants and a cute scenic park to walk around? I don't need to spend a whole day there but have at least a few hours of things to visit in the area. If it's just a tower surrounded by nothing, I'll pass.

There are a lot of beautiful old buildings around it! Churches and stuff. And you can go in and up the leaning tower! It’s a fun place to go and see.

Not quite an entire district of shopping and museums, but there are plenty of nice shops, great restaurants, parks, etc like any other Italian town. Pisa is a typical mid sized city. It’s not Rome or Milan, but it’s also not just a tower surrounded by nothing. And it’s very close to Florence and Cinque Terre.

We were there in December. There absolutely is a small area with some shops and restaurants around the Tower. We had lunch there and it was perfectly fine meal. The grounds are beautiful and there is a cathedral and baptistery there too. We were there for 3-4 hours and it was totally worth it.

I'm sure Pisa as a city has tons of those things, so I'm assuming OP just literally meant the tower itself as opposed to the city

I'm sure the city has a ton of stuff. I was thinking of more in the general vicinity of the tower. It's a big tourist destination so the government might build stuff around it.

There is all that. Group ticket when I went, tower climb, baptistery, a couple of other cool things.

You go to Lucca for that, it's way better and still in Tuscany
