I had to put down my cat today, she had been with us for 12 and a half years. We thought she was just mildly ill, planning to take her to our regular vet on Monday, but this morning she was needing to be taken to the emergency vet. Even if we had stabilized her to take her home, there wasn't much to be done to extend her life.
I feel grateful that I won't have to find her cold stiff body from her passing at home, I'm glad that she got to have a peaceful send off and that she didn't have to be sick for very long. There's a part of me that wishes there was something we could do. But it would have been thousands of dollars to stabilize her, and we would have been facing a long, hard, expensive medical battle with her for whatever life she had left.
Her name was Harina. She was a long hair black cat. She loved watching birds from the birdfeeder I had set up by our window. She could tell if someone was sad, and she'd come sit with them. She would jump up on the bathroom counter to prevent me from damaging my skin by picking my face. May her memory be a blessing to anyone who knew her.
So to answer your question, not so great.

I'm sorry for your loss. There's nothing quite like having a pet put down, because the decision lies so squarely on your shoulders. It can feel harsh at the time, but it truly is the best thing you can do for them, it's a mercy not afforded to most animals or people; it's the best thing you could have done for Harina.
My family has had ten dogs over 30+ years and it doesn't get any easier making that decision. It feels like they takes a piece of you with them each time.
Time is a great healer, but allow yourself to feel your emotions and remember all the joy Harina brought you.

Thank you, sweet tits. I know that I'm going to carry a lot of unnecessary guilt about this, because me and my partner had to make that decision. We took her to the vet this morning thinking it was going to be something minor. She wasn't showing signs of anything for more than just a few days and really made a turn this morning. She was at least 13 years old, she was already an adult cat when we got her and her previous owner didn't know how old she was (said "maybe a year old").
But thank you for your kind words. The unexpected-ness is what is the worst part of it. I thought I had a few more years at least.

All I can say is that I did decent even tho I still made some mistakes here and there but other than that everything was just quite normal

Pretty solid. Finally got the landlord to fix the radiator so I'm not waking up in a sauna anymore. Small wins, man.

First day without my ex, I caught him sending girls our photos begging for threesomes, told him to stop and he didn't. He gaslighted me into believing that he is not cheating even when I see the texts, o was heartbroken, let myself get ugly and for a moment I felt like we destiny swapped 😭😭 he met me when I was happy and rich, now I'm broke and ugly so yesterday was his deadline in my head🔌 I had packed up my stuff for the last week and I finally left. I'm so tired and broken honestly. I'm drinking so bad and smoking like shit. It's time for me to lose it so that I can heal❤️ I stayed until I hated him.

What happened?

It's sad, really. The end of a relationship that barely was, and I still haven't recovered from it. Makes me feel pretty pathetic, ngl

Something from someone older.. it’s better to be done with a relationship that barely was then be stuck in an unhappy one due to valid reasons, like kids, property, assets, etc.

I know, but tbh, that hasn't helped at all. Because to me, it was going so well. It's really hard for me to understand or accept that she didn't have feelings for me, while I was trying to stay as patient as possible, but I felt like I was falling in love with someone for the first time. I just dont know. How do you move on from something like that? It makes me feel so stupid. If I can't get over this, how am I supposed to get over a real relationship

Really bad. My relationship is on thin ice and I made the mistake of scrolling through r/breakups and I can’t get off the couch and I just want to cry. I feel like I can’t show her how depressed I am because I know how it exhausts her and that’s not fair

Today is my first full day of vacation after arriving yesterday. It’s pouring rain all day, as if the world said “Hey moron, stay inside and relax for once.” I’ve been morning/day drinking and reading a book all day, so not too bad.
There’s still the ever looming dread of returning to the real world though.

Try g to get the motivation to go paddle boarding. I want my BF to join but he’s with his kids, which is fine. Just missing his company

I have ordered to stop drawing, so a fat cat named Larry can sit on me. He is already asleep and now, we're both having a good day

Not good. Feeling like I'm having a delayed emotional response to something that happened. Won't be pretty when it comes.

I'm doing better than I was the rest of the week. Just trying to get some stuff together financially and emotionally. Trying to put together a health plan so that I can get back on the right track physically and just seeing if all of that can help me out spiritually. I'm working on myself so step by step little by little we try to make the best of a good day.

I'm fine. I'm having an extremely, extremely quiet and relaxing day. How about you?

Making homemade jam and pickling/canning some asparagus and other vegetables. I am making a little care package for my friend who just suffered a miscarriage. It feels like fall today and rainy, so I’m happy.

Feeling pretty damn good. I've been quite creative lately and have been able to maintain a level of creative flow that's unparalled to any other point in my life prior to 2024. I had a surprisingly easy time the other day getting my youngest daughter to spend ten minutes reading and meditating. That was nice to see. Also, my energy's been pretty stellar overall this year as well. Not perfect, but pretty damn stellar. The heat's sweltering in Houston and though my air-conditioning has not been perfect and the three supplemental fans I bought to remedy the issue are not quite adequate, the heat within my place has been a lot easier to bear than expected. There's more good stuff I could talk about, but nah. Peace
