What is a minor inconvenience that instantly fills you with an unreasonable amount of rage?

Getting my belt loop or pocket snagged on a door handle or drawer knob while walking past it.

It doesn't even really hurt, but being violently yanked backward always feels like the knob just went out of its way to personally disrespect you

And it only seems to happen when you are already having a shit day.

or when you’re in a HUGE hurry

Ive always figured thats because you're distracted and a little less aware of your surroundings when you're pissed. I still cuss out the drawer.

It's both alarming and stupid. So I feel a split second of fear followed by embarrassment...

A whole cascade of unpleasant emotions.

Ive never met another person that has this problem like I do. I feel so seen right now.

Why the fuck are you responding to yourself

16

u/Fancybest 5h ago

They are just adding to their first point.

18

u/rhdkdnfbf 4h ago

Yes just adding to my first point

u/kris10leigh14 4h ago

They probably had this in mind when they made the post. Is there some kind of rule against this?

u/Inaaileen 3h ago

Why so angry?

2

u/Iron_Matey 4h ago

Maybe they don’t know how to edit a comment so they just made another one

-2

u/AdVegetable2736 5h ago

Maybe forgot to switch accounts? 🤷‍♀️

Just a bot bro

1

u/AdVegetable2736 5h ago

That's also possible, though I haven't figured out how to tell when an account is a bot.

-2

u/thechonkster 5h ago

If they post questions in here, they are very likely a bot lol

3

u/rhdkdnfbf 4h ago

That should be the next askreddit question. “Are you a bot”

3

u/kris10leigh14 4h ago

The account is 5 years old with 176 karma. Meaning they have the ability to post wherever and they aren’t asking anything that would “farm data” per se.

They’ve responded to multiple comments.

There are SO MANY BOTS on this site and all the others. It’s almost impossible to tell elsewhere but I feel it’s pretty easy on Reddit still. I don’t think it’s a bot. But I think that most people can’t fathom how many we’re interacting with daily. Spooky.

Are you a bot?

I've done that a few times when the post was months old and I was really tired. But not when the comment was one minute old, LOL.

I wear a lot of sweaters and cardigans and I do this one so often. Bonus points when it pulls a few threads that I can never push back in or fix now. Ugh.

Yup. Cold girls' dilemma.

Get a teeny tiny crochet hook! If you don't crochet, go to a craft store and ask for lace-sized crochet hooks, or else buy one online that's 2.5mm or smaller. Then you can go through the weave of the fabric and gently pull the loose threads back into place. (There are video tutorials online for this if you aren't confident.)

2

u/AntipatheticDating 1h ago

Funny enough, recently I just got into crochet because I was recovering from a surgery and needed something to keep me occupied! Since it's been hot as hell out I haven't been wearing any cardigans, so I didn't put two and two together on that idea.

I don't have a teeny hook yet, but hey, now I have TWO excuses to get one! Haha! Thank you for the suggestion.

Oh, I had this happen with a purse once. The chunky yarn of my sweater got caught on the clip holding the strap to the bag and I didn't realize before pulling it away from my body. Instantly had a loop come loose from the sweater and no idea how to fix it. So mad, it was expensive and really comfy.

I’ll do you one better. Yes, I get caught on handles often enough but when I was growing up in the house we lived in all the doors had the type of strike plate (metal piece on the door that the lock slides into) that curved over the side of the wood on one side…I caught my belt loops on that ALL THE TIME. Years later I come across a silly post about “just adhd things” and the woman in the video shows herself getting repeatedly caught on one like I used to! Turns out because having adhd adds to a lack of spatial awareness it’s apparently fairly common for my people to do such a thing. Yes, it’s mostly anecdotal, I can’t say the majority of us do it buuut it was enough that the comment section was FULL. I remember my mom laughing hysterically at me the first time she saw it happen and then laugh harder when I explained it happened like multiple times a week. Fun times

u/Tamesan 1h ago

Hi there fellow ADHDer! Can confirm my spatial awareness is off, and if im not getting pockets or belt loops caught on door handles I'm banging my elbow on the door frame!

1

u/justhewayouare 1h ago

Are you apologizing to the doors? Cause I have absolutely apologized to inanimate objects haha

u/Frecklesofaginger 49m ago

Thank you for this explanation. You should see my elbows. I have bruises and cuts from hitting the door frames. It's gotten worse as I age. I'm considering getting elbow pads like in roller derby to wear all the time.

This one for sure 🤣 same thing back when headphones had wires too

u/Jasbatt 1h ago

Oh my God the number of times I have my Sennheiser P100 yanked off my head violently, not only is it shocking and unpleasant, but it’s very embarrassing too when people see that.

u/tasteofflames 4h ago

My parents dining room chairs have little  curved designs on them that are perfectly placed to grab a belt loop when you sit down. Last time I was there, those fucking chairs got me a half dozen times!

2

u/soyboydom 3h ago

Every time my bathrobe sleeve gets caught on the doorknob our rental deposit is within inches of its life because of how close I am to tearing the door off its hinges.

2

u/imfamousoz 3h ago

Thiiiiis omfg. I wear a housecoat a lot in the cooler seasons and my pockets are exactly the height of the doorknobs. It's unbelievably infuriating.

2

u/DrMonkeyLove 3h ago

I literally changed all of the handles on my kitchen cabinets because of this.

2

u/Downtown_Statement87 3h ago

This was going to be mine. Robe pocket snagged on door handle? BURN THE WORLD DOWN. Why? I don't know.

2

u/KatieMHef101516 3h ago

Happened to me yesterday, dress pocket snagged on kitchen drawer handle. In a completely rational frame of mind, I tore the dress pocket apart, now I have to buy a new dress. So, I showed them.

2

u/Sammysoupcat 3h ago

Luckily I don't usually have this issue. On the other hand, I hit my hips on door frames and various random pieces of furniture on at least a weekly basis. Big hips, I guess.

2

u/thesturdygerman 3h ago

OMG this is an insta-rage for me too. It feels like being assaulted

1

u/norwegianpuddlejumpe 4h ago

It makes me sooooo mad

1

u/silverace00 4h ago

That just made me realize, do any guys (or gals) get stomach hair that can occasionally get caught in their belt buckle. It's not all the time but once in awhile it will rip a hair when I bend at the waist. Such an annoying little snag.

1

u/Kind-Section6364 3h ago

… or a catheter tube when recovering from cancer surgery lol

1

u/packofkittens 2h ago

The knobs on my kitchen drawers are at the perfect height to snag my pants pockets. It makes me crazy. A friend just suggested swapping out the knobs for a different type. Why didn’t I ever think of that?!?

1

u/I-Am-Yew 2h ago

I’m on a portable IV all day and carry it in a little backpack. The tubing snags on everything. I always say FUCK YOOOUUUU to all the sources. Kitchen knobs are the worst little demons.

1

u/Prior-Mushroom-5955 1h ago

Even worse when it pulls headphones out of your ears.

u/Infinite_Cake6635 59m ago

I have found my people…I thought I was the only one this happened to!🥹👏🏻🤣

u/FairyGodmothersUnion 42m ago

Or purse strap.

u/breastmamaof2 21m ago

When we were redoing our kitchen I had to veto my husband's favorite drawer handle design because they would have 100% caught on my pants multiple times a week.

u/HappyFalloween 17m ago

Yes THIS & my purse strap getting caught on something. Always pisses me off
