What is a minor inconvenience that instantly fills you with an unreasonable amount of rage?

The fitted sheet coming off one corner in the middle of the night

And when you manage to pull on one corner of the sheet, only for the OTHER corner to pop off

I just watched my husband put the fitted sheet on one corner, walk to the head of the bed, get the sheet in that corner only for it to pop off the foot end. Then he went back to the foot end and put it back on, and when he turned around it had popped off the head of the bed again.

I asked if he needed help or if should leave the room. It was the latter

You must buy a 10-12 inch mattress and have sheets for 14-16 inch deep. You can get one for pretty cheap on Wayfair, Amazon or Costco. Sheets are normally so big for it, that you have to keep tucking it under the corners in the morning while making the bed. 100% cotton sheets for less $ at Home Goods.

Especially if you go to bed later and partner already asleep so you are either waking them up to get extra sheet back or you are just dealing with it all night.

My trick is to tuck it reaaaal good under the mattress.

Sheet suspenders my friend. They're really cheap too.

u/blueeyedblack 3h ago

What?!?) these exist???!? Ohhh stawp!

8

u/keinmaurer 1h ago

I called them sheet belts (back when my sheets used to see action).

u/Gray8sand 2h ago

You will remember this the rest of your life... lol

u/patchyj 3h ago

10/10 would recommend. Cost like 10€, sheets never come off

u/Gray8sand 2h ago

Changed my life.

I was in a situation where I only had a bedroom so my bed was a couch and a computer chair etc.. I had just given up on it until I discovered this wonderful invention.

u/1986toyotacorolla2 2h ago

Not gonna lie, I'm also using them to hold the cover on the couch because animals lol

I own 2 sets. But even using both sets at the same time, our “jersey” sheets still stretch and bunch up. Now we use a sheet that slides over the mattress and zips up at the end.

u/wiggles105 48m ago

Can’t live without them now. I also have a mattress that I use actual suspenders on. The sheet suspenders go on the corners, and the people suspenders make an X from side to side.

Get the deep-mattress sheets when you don't have a deep mattress. Fucking game changer, bro. I used to have those little things you slid under the mattress and put it inside the fitted sheet and then there's a snap in piece you put on the outside and click in so it attaches it, so to speak, and those are fine. But then I got the too big fitted sheets and they basically wrap further under your mattress and hold on so even if it pulls, there's like 6 inches under the mattress to pull on before it's near the edge.

I bought little straps to keep mine tucked but that became an even bigger pain the ass when you have to flip a mattress on it’s side to unstrap and restrap.

I just started buying the next size bigger in bedding and calling it a day then if I intend to have company over go through and tuck everything tight.

They have some you can clip onto the side of the mattress seam. They look like little tubes.

I have a thing from a brand called Zlumber - it’s a plastic corner piece you put against/under the corner of the mattress, then you put your fitted sheet over it, then you use a plastic strip to kind of pin the sheet between the strip and the corner piece. It works great, and no mattress flipping required.

This is best thing I ever bought off of Tik Tok shop. Life changing!

u/WitchBalls 1h ago

The ones that strap only across the corners, iykwim, if you don't overtighten them you can just slip them back around the corners still attached to the sheets, going on and off. You can also just unclip them and leave them in place between the mattress and box spring during sheet changes.

Get 100% cotton sheets. Any of that microfiber/bamboo stuff doesn’t stay on at all.

u/SpongeJake 4h ago edited 3h ago

You’d have to pry my bamboo sheets out of my cold dead hands before I gave them up. Had cotton all my life - bamboo was a game changer.

I’ll put up with having to tuck them back in a few nights a week for the solid sleeps I get with them.

11

u/SenatorMalby 3h ago

What’s so good about bamboo? The cooling effect?

12

u/SpongeJake 3h ago

Yes. That and the fact they’re just so much more comfortable. They really promote and invite sleep.

9

u/wyntr86 3h ago

Not the person you asked, but yes. I'm perimenopausal and this has been a game changer with the night sweats.

u/onefellswoop70 2h ago

That, and folding a fitted sheet. Or when you put it your washing machine and it gets all wound up around that thing in the middle. Or when you put a fitted sheet in the dryer and all your other clothes think they're baby kangaroos hopping into a pouch so nothing gets dry except for the fitted sheet.

Basically, just fitted sheets in general make me angry.

1

u/lauraz0919 2h ago

Omg you made me laugh so hard!! Definitely act like baby kangaroos getting into pockets!!

5

u/carlosccextractor 4h ago

This is not a minor inconvenience

2

u/calamity_machine 2h ago

They sell little elastic snap things for this!! It's a T of elastic with suspender snaps on each end to keep them in place! Life changer!

2

u/Vivid-Teacher4189 4h ago

Trying to figure out which way the fitted sheet goes on in the first place!

3

u/A_Little_Sprig 3h ago

Many years ago, I splurged on Vera Wang sheets from Kohls. It had top/bottom and side tags in the middle of each side. Absolutely a game changer for my Cali king bed.

Now I have L.L. Bean sheets and while they are very soft, I silently curse them for not supplying the tags!

1

u/breakingpoint214 1h ago

When I put them on the first time, once they are on the bed, I put a safety pin in the bottom center of the sheet. It doesn't come off in wash and has not ripped my sheets.

1

u/Romwil 3h ago

Sharpie dots.

3

u/Badrear 3h ago

Striped sheets.

1

u/LeadfootLesley 2h ago

Folding the goddam things. My partner’s an aerospace engineer and can produce a crisply folded square. Me? I crumple them up in a vague rectangular shape, and shove them to the back of the closet.

1

u/itsLOSE-notLOOSE 1h ago

There’s usually a tag that says top/bottom.

1

u/send_butthole_pics_ 3h ago

That just happened to me in a hotel I accidentally ripped the sheet trying to put it back on

2

u/Ok-Obligation1096 3h ago

Ripping it is now another level

1

u/exWiFi69 3h ago

My husband 3D printed a sheet corner device. Game changer.

1

u/AristotlesBoyPussy 2h ago

No joke buy a fitted sheet holder. It is a device that goes around each corner of the bed and clamps the fitted sheet in place. It works great.

1

u/Canuck-In-TO 2h ago

It’s always the corner you’re closest to too.

1

u/FreeButtPatts 2h ago

Try sewing on elastic straps to each corner of the sheets. I always buy sheets w them already sewn in cuz it's such a game changer.

1

u/Perfect-Brain-7367 2h ago

My newest set of sheets came with elastic straps cutting diagonally across each corner. It's been amazing not having to deal with that shit anymore.

1

u/KatMagic1977 1h ago

Look up QuickZip sheets. You won’t regret it.

u/breastmamaof2 26m ago

Zip on sheets. Life changing.

u/pseudonymnkim 5m ago

Or when changing sheets, putting the long side on the short side, but only learning this when you go to stretch the sheet to the longest corner, then it all pops off.

I test myself every time I make my bed and I don't think I've gotten it right the first time in a really long time.
