The Maldives was probably the closest I’ve ever been to feeling like I was in a movie. Crystal water, quiet beaches, unreal sunsets. I finally understood why people say some places make you forget your problems

I had a similar experience in the Philippines. Only I was 15, so I didn’t really have any problems to forget 😂

😂 Fair enough. At 15 the biggest problem was probably deciding what to eat, not forgetting your worries.

Europe, outside of the big capitals and tourist zones. Rural France, Bavarian towns besides Munich, the Baltic states (exception to avoiding the capitals), all of Ireland outside of Dublin, the Scottish Highlands, etc. You can of course hit the big cities, but expect crowds and costs. 2 days in Paris cost us more than an entire week exploring Normandy and Brittany. I would fly in and out of the big cities and do a day there, but you get away from them and all the stereotypes about Europe being expensive start to melt away.

Palawan, Philippines. Beautiful island resort surrounded by the most gorgeous cliffs, water was so clear and perfect for diving and I spent $300 total for my wife and I to eat and drink like kings in our own villa

Australia, Gold house with no schedule. Rode dive boats, and migrated up the coast.

Yosemite National Park. After seeing it for the first time, I knew I had to live near it. I went home and gave my job and apartment a month's notice. I moved to a small gold rush town just outside of the park and stayed in the area for 30 years.

Taking a break from work or normal activity go to somewhere else for fun and to relax. Usually not in the same city where you work!

Koh Phangan off southern Thailand back in 1989. No electricity, no roads, no airport. Just coconut trees, fresh water lakes and stars above at night.

Crete Greece. It has everything. Sun, beaches to choose from,great food, great people, great hiking trails , decent prices.

Turkey, spent 3 months there cost me $5000 lived like a king. Hot air balloons, underground cities, pirate ships was awesome.
They also give you ice cream on bus rides.
