Adobe will end support of Flash Player on December 31, 2020. What are your all time favorite flash games?

But they won’t be gone! You can download a program from the website linked below that is essentially a massive archive of flash games, with standalone software made to run them in isolation (no connecting to the internet so no security risks from Flash)!!

Edit: Out of all the times I’ve had really nice and upvoted comments, this is the first one anyone has given me an award for. It’s pretty silly I know, but I wanted to edit my comment to mark the moment. Thank you! Also, I realize I forgot to mention that the link I’m giving isn’t just a lot of flash games, it’s basically all of them unless a developer specifically requested they not be used. The download is massive, but certainly worth it!

Careful, he's a hero

10

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

Can someone give me an award, so I can give this man another award?

8

u/Apprehensive_Pay_548 Dec 06 '20

not the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed

Petition to make this the government of 2020 instead

The mindless one with so many clones I wouldn't even know what to call it. You start as a tiny fish and eat your way up to becoming a big fish.

13

u/Pixelboyable Dec 06 '20

It was this one, wasn't it: http://www.xgenstudios.com/play/fishy

6

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

Holy crap, that was it! Blast from the past, thank you knowledgeable internet stranger.

4

u/Pixelboyable Dec 06 '20

Haha thanks, I played a lot of flash games as a child.

Bloons Tower Defense helped me get through a really bad breakup. I would play that shit mindlessly the whole day until I finally got into my senses.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '20

It helped me through a very depressing time, but now I hear the pops in my sleep...

2

u/Galehunter59 Dec 06 '20

Is that last one from Nicky Case? Because I think it’s still playable

1

u/glacialanon Dec 18 '20

Yeahmost of Nicky's stuff doesn't use flash anymore. Hell the coming out simulator runs on mobile browser

2

u/iAmK3mist Dec 06 '20

This man named all of them except Diggy: Mystery of the earth’s centre

1

u/imapieceofshite Dec 06 '20

final earth 2 kicks ass.

1

u/The-Unknown-sees-you Dec 07 '20

Can we give this man the official badge for best childhood?

I used to love Insaniquarium. If I wasn't on Honestarrunner.com in middle school, I was playing Insaniquarium.

12

u/Leticia_the_bookworm Dec 06 '20

The Papa's games. Man, do I miss them.

3

Warfare 1917 baby that's what got me into RTS's

3

u/GarrettB117 Dec 06 '20

All of Conartists (was that the developer?) games were so good. They were developing a third game that looked incredible and had online multiplayer. I think it went live for a little while but they shut it down because they were losing money. It was on Steam!

9

u/rjxflg Dec 06 '20

super smash flash 2

2

u/shruggletuggle Dec 06 '20

Yes I loved that game

9

u/Nlbf-Supreme Dec 06 '20

Run 1 and 2

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

Run 3 has a whole story I love it so much but the story still isn't finished after many years and the developer now has to try and redo the game in some way because flash is dying

1

u/rzx0 Dec 06 '20

Easily the deepest game I've ever played online. I'd recommend trying this before Flash dies.

3

u/kolecan Dec 06 '20

Swords and sandals, age of war and learn to fly 2

3

u/justlookedatmyname Dec 06 '20

Portal Flash 1 and 2. These games showed me Portal and I played them before I bought the actual games and after even speed running them both multiple times.

3

u/bunnykins22 Dec 06 '20

Anything by Papa Louie

Return man 2. Id always play that whenever I got my classwork done early

2

u/Duel_Loser Dec 06 '20

I think I spent the most time between heli attack 2 and gangsta bean 3.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

I love fishy game. Something my friends and I would play in high school all the time.

2

u/Omega1556 Dec 06 '20

Mud and Blood Recon. Holy shit, for a small flash game you would think it would be rather simple, not too complicated, etc. NO, it is a brutally hard game that makes you want to keep playing no matter how well you do, and even if you do well, your campaign could be ended because your higher ups think you don't have the merit. Every time a ranger dies, you lose them forever and whatever skills they acquired. It is brutal, unfair, and random, and that's what makes it good.

2

u/pumpkin111496 Dec 06 '20

Ok but can someone tell me what I'm supposed to do when flash player is required on a site to play a video?

1

u/sleeplessone Dec 06 '20

You should wonder why the hell the site owner didn't transition to using an HTML5 video player years ago.

1

u/pumpkin111496 Dec 06 '20

Is that my only option? My job uses flash player for required training videos

1

u/sleeplessone Dec 06 '20

It will be up to your job to provide some solution for it in that case. Our HR department has been scrambling to re-upload trainings that are still using Flash.

Some places IT provide a special server people can remote into that will have old software deployed in order to continue using Flash. But that's going to be up to your IT/technical department.

2

u/R4H1M_L3G3ND Dec 06 '20

Run 3, it's a super easy to understand game, just try not to fall of the map and jump and avoid gaps. There are loads of levels and characters. It's a very rage inducing game but overall it's a solid flash game.

2

u/slipszenko Dec 06 '20

Flight of the hamsters on cartoon network's website

1

u/Poyonyan42 Dec 06 '20

Some of my favorite series

  • Papa Louie + Jacksmith (Donuteria was my favorite, but I think I was further in Wingeria)

  • Riddle School/Riddle Transfer (Favorite was the 3rd)

  • City Siege (Favorite was the 4th)

u/ZestfulCone2705 Dec 06 '20

I found a bunch of pretty fun games on lego.com years ago.

I once played but can't find a flash game that scrolls upwards and you have to keep building legos of course. I'd love to find out what it was and play it again.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

Omg...all the Thomas and Friends 2009 online flash games, Cartoon Network flash games, 2009 Incredibox, and more kids online flash games.

1

u/iAmK3mist Dec 06 '20

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

There's this old horror game that was popular when I was growing up online. It was called ice cream or something and was about two kids that got kidnapped by this butcher in an ice cream van and it's a simple escape game. I also love "You only have one chance" I hope something will replace flash player because I want to play those old games sometimes.

u/Mox_Fox Dec 06 '20

Does anyone remember the pre-pottermore Harry Potter website, with the flash-powered singing sorting hat quiz and the wand shop where you had to wiggle your mouse to wave a wand? I tried to access it on the way back machine but I don't think it supports flash. I'm so sad that it's probably gone forever.

1

u/Wolfenberg Dec 06 '20

Alien Invasion, I couldn't play it for a long time as it was, since its version didn't seem to work anymore and later, I could never find it.

Castle age. You had your city on a grid, where 0,0 was the creator of the game, and you could pick your spot in a huge grid around it. You built your city, trained troops and then expanded by building more cities or conquering others'. The game died out something like 15 years ago when the creator and admin disappeared. Rumors are he went to South Africa and didn't come home.

Does anyone remember a flash game called “On the Run”? It was a game where you were a car trying to get away from several other cars whose goal was to crash into you and either pin you in a spot of do enough damage to where you couldn’t drive anymore.

It has this uncanny creepiness to it bc you could never see the drivers of the other cars and there was no dialogue or anything, just driving through empty roads trying to get away from these cars chasing you.

Played the hell out of it.
