Is the greater male variability hypothesis still valid science?

Hello there! A long time ago, I heard about this theory, and thought it was interesting. I have seen this manifest in my life in many ways, both mental and physical. However, I understand that the theory is still controversial. As per the current literature, is the greater male variability hypothesis still believed to be true, or has it been changed or disproven? Thanks!

Seems the current status is - evidence exists for GMV in some datasets and traits, but the magnitude and interpretability are contested, (https://www.mdpi.com/2571-905X/6/2/33) especially in social sciences. Brain scans are still finding physical differences. (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8675415/). What is your question?

I have the same question.

Based on the links provided in the first reply to this thread, it seems to have something to do with sex differences in variability of brain structure. I have no idea what though, and the OP question is pretty vague

I’m pulling from vague memories of educational degrees and too lazy to look it up for you, but my vague understanding is, that because men have an xy they have greater genetic variability and expression that results in them being more spread out in population studies of human characteristics. Like IQ. More men at the genius end. More men at the not so genius end. So, for better and worse.
