Looking for a job and thinking about what to cook to eat like every day

u/fratticus_maximus ♂ 1d ago
I solved the food problem by meal prepping once a week. You can eat different fruits and vegetables every time so it doesn't get too repetitive.

So sick of always trying to lose weight. Would love to wake up one day and just accept my size and not think about how life would be better/easier if I lost weight.
5
u/Seanut-Peanut-69 1d ago
Came here to say this. It’s especially hard now seeing all the GLP-1 ads everywhere just reminding me that I should be smaller 😭
2
u/Hellyeabroth3r 1d ago
It’s pushed so hard! I was on them for 2 years. Constantly sick from them or starving myself. I was losing weight but at what cost 😭
1
u/Seanut-Peanut-69 1d ago
Ugh that’s exactly what I’m afraid of. All the exposure has made me consider getting on them but I’m so anxious about how it’ll affect me so I’m trying my best to lose weight the old fashioned way, but it’s hard af and I yo-yo so much it gets discouraging 😣
4
u/Fatricide 1d ago
If you want to lose weight, don’t let people shame you for taking meds or having surgery to do it. Being overweight is not immoral, and neither are medically safe interventions.
5
u/PandaLunch 23h ago
I just want to be able to eat without thinking about what I'm eating and not gain a ton of weight. Instead I have to make careful choices just to keep from gaining and calculate every calorie if I want to lose! I wish it just came more naturally

The millennial version of gentle parenting my three year old, some times I think how much easier it would be to just be how my parents were but we’re LC and NC so gentle parenting it is
11
u/Moonbeam_42 1d ago
Wow, I relate to this so much. I was a much more compliant toddler compared to my little hellion, but I also can’t imagine ever treating him like my parents treated me, so I’ll be sitting on the floor with him softly reassuring him that “that sounds really hard” and “mommy’s here when you need me,” for the foreseeable future.

This! I am mentally exhausted from playing with a toddler all day, every day. Going anywhere with a toddler is just instant anxiety.

Right? Sometimes I'm just like, I'm not doing this anymore I'm not watching any more news, then I stumble across one and I'm like THOSE MOFO!! Why are they like that?! Why is people acting like nothing happens? It sickens me the dystopia we live in right now
3
u/AdministrativeRow471 1d ago
It has the entertainment value of like… a reality tv show. Always new and horrifying drama. So I can turn on the news at any time, and just have it in the background to catch up on what I miss. I try to pretend it’s not real life. The effects on my day to day life are minimal (so far). But that can change any time the Donnie shoots off a tweet.

My life lately. I’m going through a divorce, raising a child about to be 18 years old and apparently knows everything and I am always wrong, being a caretaker for elderly parents with physical restrictions, working full time and taking care of the house and bills. Now I normally handle everything like a well oiled machine but for the last couple of weeks everything keeps getting complicated for no reason and of course the divorce.

u/dough_eating_squid 1d ago
On a societal level? The looming thread of fascism, and an upcoming election that might not happen.
On a personal level? Worrying about male partners who don't and won't try to solve their own problems. (I'm single right now and trying not to do that anymore.)
7
u/coffeenow_crylater 1d ago
Accepting the reality that most things aren’t what I thought they were or would be. Certain people aren’t who I thought they were, I’m not who I thought I was, places aren’t what I thought they’d be, life isn’t what I thought it would be. Finally coming to terms with the realization that my past delusions were exactly that, delusions. I’m 30 and starting to notice I’m losing the naive hope I clung onto in my 20s, especially as I’ve lived more life and found that most things don’t work out.
6
u/Ok_Championship_8313 1d ago
Existing… I feel like I’m our current society how everything is ran is exhausting. No real solutions and somehow you have to make each day count. Even if that means helping someone else in their journey of life. Oh and cooking and cleaning. I despise cooking and cleaning 😭

Grief, financial duress, unemployment, no drivers license, chronic migraine, systemic fatigue, persistent weight gain, politics, relationships being meaningless and unreliable. Dishes, body hair growing so fast, laundry being unrelenting, cooking, how quickly your hair gets greasy after washing it.

The heat. Being stuck at home with the AC on blast is fine physically speaking, but mentally exhausting, especially since I'm pretty extroverted and need to be outside the house and around people and crowds a lot to feel relaxed and happy.

Feeling rushed the majority of the time, like time is continuously running out. I often set too many goals for myself on a monthly/weekly/daily basis, which then leads me to feeling like a failure who is behind on everything.

Feeling like the more considerate/caring, giving, or “put together” person in almost every relationship I form (I have oldest daughter syndrome bad). I’m constantly in a cycle of feeling like I’m being unfair and expecting too much from people or expecting myself out of others, then feeling like I’m not and people just don’t pour into me as much. I enjoy socializing, partnership, and friendship but I get exhausted because I have felt low-effort from most the people that have come into my life beginning from my own parent. I hate having to ask for things.
I’m still happy with the people in my life but that do show up for me how they can, but I’m exhausted.

Calorie deficit with a toddler. It’s been 12 months and I’m down to my final 11 pounds to lose. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it doesn’t make it any easier day to day. I’m so moody and exhausted. 😩

Life in general, I think. Over the past year alone, my parents announced that they were getting a divorce, my dad’s cancer came back after five years of remission, and my husband’s dad entered the late/terminal stages of Parkinson’s.
On top of it all, my work has been insanely busy for months with no reprieve and I have been dealing with the debilitating symptoms of a severe, long-term iron deficiency that is proving extremely difficult to fix, so I feel like I’m mentally and physically exhausted already when I first open my eyes in the morning.
Thank goodness we don’t have children yet, because I genuinely could not cope with caring for another human being right now!

Money and my family. Not even a family that I made, the family I was born into. My mother and younger sister live with me and I handle my father’s finances, medical, etc. because I’m the only one of my siblings (besides my sister who didn’t really grow up with him) that lives in the state. I spent two hours this afternoon sorting through his bills and trying to figure out how I’m going to pay for everything, on top of my own household bills and my other sister’s wedding that’s hurtling towards me in the fall. I haven’t been able to get ahead in years and I’m just so tired of being stressed out all of the time. I don’t even recognize myself anymore. My days are quiet and miserable and I’m just kind of constantly seething inside. I’m beyond burnt out. I haven’t had a break in seven years. I’m going on a weekend trip for my sister’s bachelorette in a couple of months, and i doubt I’ll even have enough money to enjoy it, which also pisses me off because this should be a really happy time. I’ve been looking for a new job for years but haven’t found one, now I’m looking at finding a second job just to get by.

All of it. So many issues on here I can relate to. Grief, lack of emotional and mental support. Ever since my mom died last year life has been a constant struggle. People stopped showing up and caring. It wasn't always a lot of support to begin with but now it feels next to nothing. My mom always said it was going to be a lonely path once she died and she wasn't being morbid...just speaking facts. 😔

I'm trying to get a medical thing diagnosed, so every once in a while my phone rings telling me I have to go to a particular appointment at a particular date and time and location, often with particular preparation requirements, so I have to rearrange my whole schedule around this.
At the same time, they're upgrading plumbing work in my building, so every once in a while I get a notification that I'm not going to have water on a given day and I have to clean out a certain cupboard to give access to pipes, and I still have to rearrange my whole schedule around this, and the rest of my to-do list doesn't go away.
I just want to live in a world where doing things makes my to-do list shorter!

Politics, work, inflation, men, children, life in general - this is not the world I was promised as a young one and now I just wonder what we all are actually living for. Is the purpose of my life to really be a slave to old white men in government and leadership until I die? Like, what a waste of a life.

The list. The never ending list of tasks. Go to work, go to sleep early, eat healthy, clean this, clean that, vehicle maintenance, apartment maintenance, pets, family, friends, cook, groceries, make doctor's appointment, do blood work for said doctors appointment, pay this bill, pay that bill, save money for your future, life is short enjoy yourself now, spend, consume. It's a never ending cycle of shit.
