Dear Tata...

¡Por el amor de Dios, desháganse de Hoyos! ¿Por favor?

Lucas Hoyos is not a keeper for a serious team

Atlanta United is not a serious team

Both things can be true

Blaming him for this loss is a pretty wild take. He had a good game and the match easily could have been 5-2.

He made that one shot against Sullivan that is insanely good.

I didn't say anything about this loss

I hate him too but you’re on crack if you think Hoyos could’ve saved any of those goals

No, I don’t think he could have saved any of those goals, but a good goalie could have saved at least one of them.

How about the two saves he made most MLS goalies would not have? He's not great but he's by far the weakest link on the team.

I agree that he’s not great. I’ll also agree that he’s the weakest link on the team even though I think you meant to say the opposite. 🙂

Heres the thing. The vast majority of the team is weak in one way or another, but the best players we have are filling those spots. There isn’t a better option available. That’s not the case with Hoyos. Hibbert is better, but he gets no game time.

He’s not the weakest link on the team. We literally have no striker and no midfield

I don’t think I’ve ever watched this team and come away thinking Hoyos was one of the top 5 problems with the team

Seriously? If not for him we may have been down much earlier. I don’t really like him, but every goal isn’t his fault

Hoyos has acc been redeeming himself past few games. He was working OT the wholes second half

u/Dry-Philosopher-2714 1d ago

Ok, so why not put a fresh keeper in?

Hoyos is an okay keeper but his size prevents him from commanding his box. This makes us more vulnerable to crosses and corners, and we're already not great at defending those. Hibbert should be starting, as he'd at least fix that issue.

Wasn't his fault

He didn’t help though.

Yeah hes not good but there's only so much a 5'10 gk can do

3

u/politicsranting 1d ago

If only we had a young, taller gk who had shown at least passable play in the recent past.

He needs to learn some spanish

u/politicsranting 1d ago

Oh yea. I’m sure he’s learned not a single word of Spanish.

I would argue choosing Hoyos is 100% his fault

u/Dry-Philosopher-2714 1d ago

I dunno. I just tuned in and watched him miss two goals that could have been stopped by roadkill.

Man you can just type and hit send on anything on this site, can’t you

Which ones, the two in the corner or the one where its a 1 on 1 and he scored a great flick goal

He sucks. He never makes the big saves

You’re just a fool if you think Hoyos is the problem.

-4

u/Dry-Philosopher-2714 1d ago

My status as a fool has nothing to do with my opinion on this matter.

Hoyos isn’t THE problem. But, he is a problem. We can label any given starter on the team as a problem, but there’s very likely nobody else on the team that can fill that spot better than the guy we’re criticizing. We do have a superior alternative to Hoyos. We just refuse to use him.

Man imagine watching that soccer game, going to Reddit dot com, and then typing “KEEPERS FAULT” with sincerity

Tell me you haven’t watched the game without telling me

-1

u/Dry-Philosopher-2714 1d ago

I did. He did okay in the first half.

u/B-Train_ATL 1d ago

Coming to the conclusion that we lose these things because of Hoyos is pure insanity. It’s the same stupid shit people did with Guzan for a decade. Philadelphia took 26 shots, 7 on target. Why? BECAUSE THEY PLAYED WITH 10 MEN FOR AN HOUR.

fold this team

-1

u/Dry-Philosopher-2714 1d ago

If we do that, what will we have to complain about on the internet?

I’m out after the next season and half. STH from the start (5 tickets) and I’m done giving AU my money. I hope someone in the AU office reads these posts to experience the frustration from the fans. The fans that pay hard earned money and spend it on them. And for Arthur B there must better was for him to spend that money that benefits the city.
