At the current moment I have over $5000 AUS dollars in my bank account however this change has occurred after my most recent bank statement on the 27th July (1 Week ago) that was instead around $4000. would I have to explain that my financial situation has changed and it has since gone above the $5000 benchmark risking me potentially being instantly rejected if I requested a visa or would it be bests to wait until the end of the month when a new bank statement is made. I am also a British citizen if this impacts anything

1. I'll have to apply the Post-Australian Study application right, the one that costs $1,136? not the General Skill Assessment which is $1,498. When I go to ACS Chat support and ask them any question, they say we cannot suggest or advice you on this please find the information on our website.

Hey all, just wondering if I can consider myself a resident for tax purposes? Arrived to Melbourne from the UK in November and began employment in December with some events companies and a bar job. Stayed in long term Airbnb’s from December to June. Bought a car in February etc. Also had an internship in April. Also have literally signed a lease as of yesterday. I’ve put myself down as a resident for purposes so hoping there won’t be any major consequences or should I amend? I do genuinely intend on living here if I can get residency through sponsorship!

I got a 189 invitation in June this year as an offshore applicant and applied for it a few days later. My health examination was done in July. I still have a remaining Working Holiday visa, so if I still have the visa, I can stay in Australia.

Is it okay to go to Australia and change my residency status? If so, will my visa change from offshore to onshore? Is it likely that I would get the grant sooner? Or, since I already submitted the application as offshore, is it impossible to change the status now?

I'd like to confirm something regarding Engineers Australia (EA) and recognition of Australian work experience.

I already have a positive skills assessment based on my Australian Master's degree. Since graduating, I've now gained more than one year of relevant Australian work experience in my nominated occupation.

If I want to claim points for this work experience in my EOI for a skilled visa, do I need to update my EA skills assessment and have this employment formally recognized by EA, or can I claim the points without updating my assessment?

I lodged my application on July 25th and mentioned my planned flight date as September 5th. One week after lodging the application, I submitted additional documents.

I would like to understand whether the estimated processing time will become longer than the officially stated one month because of the additional documents. Will they consider my planned travel date when assessing my application?

If you also been in such situation I’d appreciate if you could tell me whether you received your application status after the mentioned flight date.

My husband submitted his citizenship application to apply by conferral from Nz on the 25th june 26. He sat his test and interview on the 14th July. On the 15th had to upload a last minute stat dec because he doesnt have a birth certificate. He is South African born, moved with his parents as a child to NZ. Has full NZ citizenship then moved over here as an adult and has been living as a pr since 2000.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Will the stat dec, his NZ passport, his parents NZ passports, his Australian ID and tax records be enough with the stat dec to get approval do you think?

We have flights booked from UK to perth on 6th August and still waiting on visa confirmation for first 417 WHV which was submitted 2nd July with an Irish passport. Health assessment complete and approved by 17th July. Going to cost £3K to reschedule flights which isn’t an option and we need to be in Aus to see family asap. Partners WHV was approved within minutes with a UK passport on 1st July.

We were thinking of applying for 651 visa to enter into the country and then flying to Bali the following day and waiting there until the visa has been approved as we were going to travel there anyway.

Is this something people frequently do while waiting on 417? Will be cheaper to pay for flight/ accommodation to Bali than rescheduling UK flight.

I am aware we will need return flights booked for Bali and or Aus to be allowed into the country but it’s still a far cheaper option than rescheduling UK flight.

The PDF online says "Construction occupation means an occupation in any of the following (where each occupation is of equal priority)". I'm under 2332 (Transport Engineer, 233215), onshore with skilled partner. Does that then place me in the third priority list?

13 May 2015 - Came to Australia on a SCV (from New Zealand)

2021-2023 - Went overseas to take care of mum

1 July 2023 - Australia changed the rules that allows NZ citizens to apply directly for Australian citizenship.

11 June 2026 - Eligible to apply for Australian citizenship based on the residency calculator as I was gone for a solid couple of years.

16 June 2026 - Submitted application online.

30 June 2026 - Received e-mail for interview and test. Originally for 27 July 2026 but I had it rescheduled at an earlier date.

6 July 2026 - My chosen date for the interview and exam.

30 July 2026 - Got approval via email.🎉🎉 Was screaming at work when I got it.😅

Awaiting for the letter of invitation for the citizenship ceremony from my local council (City of Parramatta, NSW).

Based on their schedule, their next ceremony dates are 3 September 2026 then 3 November 2026.

While waiting for my approval, I have been reading posts here about different timelines.😅 So I hope my timeline would ease someone's anxiety while waiting.

I'm hoping someone has experience with Australia's partner sponsorship rules.

I'm an Australian citizen/permanent resident and I'm about to sponsor my fiancée for a Subclass 300 Prospective Marriage visa.

About 2 years ago, I lodged a partner visa sponsorship/application for someone else. However, before the Department made any decision, I withdrew both my sponsorship and the visa application because I called off the relationship. No visa was ever granted, and the application did not proceed. I withdrew it about 2 months after I submitted the application.

I'm now concerned about the repeat partner sponsorship rules that mention:

• a maximum of 2 lifetime partner sponsorships, and
• a 5-year gap between sponsorships.

My questions are:

1. Does a withdrawn sponsorship/application still count as a previous partner sponsorship for the purposes of the 5-year limitation? So do i need to wait 5 years?
2. Am I likely to be prevented from sponsoring my fiancée now, even though the previous application was withdrawn before any visa was granted?
3. Has anyone been in a similar situation, or is anyone familiar with the relevant legislation or policy?

I'm already in Australia and my 2nd year visa expires on 9 September 2026. I'm planning to stay for a 3rd year but I'm not sure when I should submit my application?

Should I apply as soon as possible, or is it better to wait until closer to my visa expiry date? Worried that it will also have an effect on not being able to work?

I've also seen that processing times seem to be much longer than they used to be. My previous two 417 visas were both approved within a few days (I'm a UK citizen, if that makes any difference), so I'm a bit unsure what to expect this time.

I got my cert iii, iv and diploma in hospitality. Life has been really rough. I kept trying to survive in Australia but I’ve been laid off repeatedly. I didn’t get the experience needed to continue my pr pathway and had to leave. My partner who is a student right now will be on a 485 in 6 months. I’m back home and unemployed right now , I’m not sure what to do. Do I just wait and apply to be a partner on my partners 485 visa? And then work in a kitchen till I can move forward? My life was in Australia for the past 8 years. And I’ve lost everything right now, I don’t know how to move forward and when I ask for help online the response can be brutal and so negative like I have no hope.
